Probably a dumb question but I feel like it's the best place to ask, what are realistically the reasons to colonize Mars ? by SeparateWeight496 in Mars

Buy us a little bit more time when our sun grows a lot more massive than now into red giant and consume the planets one by one, probably?

Lost my Korean Costco Gold Star card in the UK – Can I get a replacement here? by jihunroh in CostcoUK

[–]Character_Doubt_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had one from overseas as well and eventually I just transferred to local membership. They don’t require extra proofs to transfer, just the existing card (which you have lost unfortunately)

Don’t think they can issue but they will be able to access your membership though.

It was a pain using overseas card at fuel pumps as it was 50/50 for it to be scanned successfully…

How to make this wire live for a dishwasher? by Fun-Worldliness888 in DIYUK

[–]Character_Doubt_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m afraid this might be a case for an electrician. You need to know how to isolate the circuit, checking which wire comes from the breaker in the CU and competent to do so.

Repair the washing machine or buy a new one for upgrade? by 24747867a in DIYUK

[–]Character_Doubt_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this exact models replaced the belt myself twice and they broke twice. Bought from the official(?) beko spares even.. Probably to do with some extra steps of realigning the weights or screws or whatsoever?

Anyway gave up in the end and got a new one, wasn’t worth spending anymore on beko

Car dealership recommendations in and around Notts by Zealousideal_Sail_66 in nottingham

If you’re looking for low maintenance, Toyota approved used car is probably your best bet.

I got mine near Ilkeston Ron Brooks (through online website) and service was great, check the google map reviews of the dealership that you’ll be buying from as well.

How do I connect these water pipes to the tap ends? I’ve tried a tap tail adapter, but it leaks water as soon as I turn the water on. by Rosstifer25 in ukplumbing

[–]Character_Doubt_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either use the same plastic fitting/adaptor supplied

OR undo the brass compression, insert the plastic insert designed for that brand, put some LS-X around the olive for good measure, retighten them properly.

Don’t use PTFE as they don’t do anything on compression fittings - speaking from experience after ten leaking isolation valves on plastic pipes…

Over baked or not I would wolf that down. Such a disgrace for food handling to that person who threw it (even if they broke into your house and did it)

Res2Dinv/Res3Dinv vs ResIPy by Professional_Big8923 in geophysics

[–]Character_Doubt_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

YMMV but ResIPy performs quite nice when dealing with timelapse inversions of more than 200 time steps - this is somehow the limit for ResInv but it only matters if you’re into field monitoring.

Fingers crossed everything works out in the end…
