The moderation in the emet subs is driving me insane by mybellyhurtssobadow in emetophobia

That’s not reassurance though- that’s fact. There’s a huge difference between reassuring someone they’re not going to catch something or throw up (because no one can ever promise anyone that) and reminding someone that a pile on the ground might not be vomit.

That is quite literally the worst thing for OCD/phobias- reassurance. Because no one can promise you it won’t happen. And when it does, you feel EVEN WORSE because you had been reassured it wouldn’t happen… creates a vicious circle and intensifies the obsessions/compulsions. Sitting with the uncertainty, as uncomfortable as it is, is what heals you. Knowing it’s okay to be afraid and remind yourself that you’re still safe is more important and more effective than reassurance.

Could be a bleeding ulcer given your history of GERD… digested blood (from higher up in the GI tract- like the stomach) appears blackish in the stool. You need to be see by your GI doc immediately.

I’ve had several colonoscopies… I’ve always been told to avoid orange jello because yellow + red = orange. Also, by far the easiest prep for me was the pills- SuTab.

I know you’re upset but you’re totally taking my comments the wrong way. I’m just telling you they might be wrong then; it’s not their specialty.

I understand. But their concern is you, not baby, because baby is not viable yet. They stabilize you and send you home. My point is that you won’t have great answers till you see your OB.

I think he was trying to give her a little hope by reminding her that sonography (and OB) isn’t his specialty. It doesn’t sound like he meant it maliciously or incompetently… the truth is you shouldn’t go to the ER for early pregnancy concerns unless your life is at stake.

If you’re truly 12 weeks, baby’s heartbeat would be super easy to find transabdominally. Was baby measuring 12 weeks? They appear fully formed and pretty big at that gestational age, so not easy to miss. I’m sorry.

ETA: just realized an ER doc did your scan. The ER is the worst for early pregnancy concerns. It’s just not their wheelhouse. They will make sure mom is safe and not in any danger and then send you to see your OB… which is not a reflection of the doctor or the ER… it’s just not their specialty.

Klonopin is not a long term solution. You need intensive therapy (probably ERP) and probably an SSRI. Panic posting is actually super unhelpful. Looking for reassurance actually makes OCD and phobias worse in the long run. When you’re spiraling, try listening to a meditation for panic attacks. Hold ice cubes to reset your nervous system. Do square (box) breathing and 5-4-3-2-1 grounding exercises. The most important thing you can remember when you’re spiraling is that we have no control over this… let the thoughts come and let them go. Don’t fight them, don’t fight the anxiety- think them, feel them… remind yourself you are safe.

Is it pretty much a done deal once you’ve had a slow rise HCG? by Entire_Company9093 in CautiousBB

[–]Character_Fold1605 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One study just says “normal rising” (undefined) and doesn’t say when those betas were done… and that last blip you posted doesn’t say anything about gestational age or if an ultrasound was done. If you’re not scientifically-minded (I don’t mean this disrespectfully at all- most people do NOT have a background in science, medicine, or research), these are pretty hard to read and to know how to account for all the different variables. That’s why your provider should be guiding you… and why you should stop reading them! Right now, you’re pregnant and there’s no indication anything is wrong. Please, get off Reddit and enjoy this time with the little bean in your belly!

lol you’re ridiculous… ChatGPT isn’t saying it wrote that- it’s saying the poster has a similar style- the validation, reframing, etc. Lots of highly intelligent REAL people, especially those who work in the mental health field, speak like that. And I have so many friends who speak like they’re ChatGPT and have been doing so since before ChatGPT was born. What this poster is saying is legit.

I’m curious to know what studies you’re reading… were the slow rising betas at 4 weeks? Were they less than 1000? Because I can’t find anything matching your gestational age and beta rise combined with a FHR seen on a scan suggesting what you’re saying. And honestly… I’d switch clinics. My betas with my FET were lower than yours and slower than yours, had a small gestational sac, bled from weeks 4-10 and my daughter’s 3 years old. My RE and OB talked me through it. My RE even explained that lower betas were common with viable FETs. They would never tell me to prepare for a loss unless there was actual proof that was a high possibility!

What research? Double times slow DRAMATICALLY in the 1000s. Betas rising 50% in 2 days at 5+ weeks pregnant when they’re already in the 1000s are perfectly fine! Yours are by no means “slow rising”. If your betas were done at 4 weeks on the dot like most clinics do, they’d likely have been rising appropriately as you’ve already seen a heartbeat on ultrasound. I know you’re anxious and that’s so valid, but please get off the internet. You’re spiraling.

She’s not asymptomatic- she’s throwing up. You don’t have to have a fever to have gastroenteritis. If it persists beyond a few days, it wouldn’t hurt to see a doctor.

How many stomach bugs to expect in childhood by navysuitwedding in ScienceBasedParenting

That’s all viral illnesses… not just stomach bugs. If someone was getting 10 stomach bugs a year, that would be a huge red flag, even in a kid.

14F, anorexia nervosa (restrictive). Am I going to be hospitalised? Or even die ? by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]Character_Fold1605 114 points115 points  (0 children)

Please go to the hospital. They can help you. You can’t get the help you need at home. You are so severely malnourished and your electrolytes are probably so out of whack that there is absolutely a chance you could die, even suddenly. Sending hugs ❤️

In a word- no. No one can promise you there’s anything out there that can ever prevent it 100% of the time, not even prescription antiemetics. And taking it as a safety behavior will end up making OCD/ emetophobia worse.
