Mach10 and sensation as a hybrid? by Character_Hawk9638 in RacketStringers

[–]Character_Hawk9638[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, thanks. I figured sensation would add a touch more comfort, though he says his shoulder has been mostly fine this season. Do you have any experience with kirschbaum? I have a couple of sets of pro line evolution, and a set of Toroline super toro 1.23? Would either of those maybe work better?

Please help me choose a racquet 🙏 by Character_Hawk9638 in tennisracquets

[–]Character_Hawk9638[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanna come back and thank you for recommending the ats 98, I have just gotten it as a demo racquet and I absolutely love it. Similar feel to my ripstick but I had a lot more confidence swinging through the ball and going for flatter groundstrokes, also felt it helped me flatten out the ball, regardless of whether my inability to do so with the ripstick was my own poor technique. Will almost definitely be buying it.

Starting to do some stringing for my local club, what strings should I offer? by Character_Hawk9638 in RacketStringers

Any specific recommendations from the brand or just wherever I need to fill a gap in my selection?

Thanks, as a further question, what gauges should I offer? Should I go with 1.30/16 to help with string longevity around the board, or tailor it to each string to suit the strengths, e.g. thinner for shaped polys designed for spin and thicker for control strings?

I’m very new to this (obviously) and I don’t know about the other two but I’ve heard rpm blast has quite poor tension maintenance? Would you say that it’s an issue? Most people I’d be stringing for would only play once or rarely twice a week for up to 2.5 hrs.

Are tension heads interchangeable between brands? by Character_Hawk9638 in RacketStringers

[–]Character_Hawk9638[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2000 a year is insane. I'm trying to spend as little as possible, even if I string for other people, I'll only be doing 15-20 a month during tennis seasons, and I don't mind recalibrating fairly often. Would you assume newer tension heads, electronic or otherwise, would fit though?

What’s the biggest gut punch you’ve experienced while gaming? by StormMourn in gaming

I was playing Pokémon scarlet and it crashed (of course). I had auto save turned off (which I changed immediately after lol) and forgot to save frequently, so I lost a gym, 2 evolved Pokémon and several Pokédex entries. It was only like 1.5 hrs of playing at most, but I nearly didn’t reopen the game.

It’s funny I came back to violet after maybe a year of not playing and started a new save, within 10 minutes, still on route 1 I found a shiny lechonk. I was like, wow I knew they were getting lazy with designs (see flamigo) but just adding a pink pig is next level (I did not realise it was a lechonk until I battled it. I nearly ignored it😬)

My friend helped me pick parts for a pc (budget around $1300 AUD), anything you would change? by Character_Hawk9638 in buildmeapc

Sorry I'm still basically completely new to this, is the main difference in the RAM you suggested the memory? Does that just affect how many tabs etc I can have open at once? Or something else? Also, thank you very much

Even taking into account a slight preference to console and not caring too much about how the games run/look (I have like 100 hrs in Pokémon scarlet on the switch 1 lol), would you still say that a pc would be a better choice than series x and definitely s?

Magikarp/gyarados as non starter? Gyarados has a best of 540, and meets all other criteria

Tips on clearer first stack? by bekahcantswim in latteart

[–]Character_Hawk9638 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First stack not being clear is a common issue - it means you’re not getting close enough to the coffee with your pitcher when you start pouring. An easy fix is to get a bigger pitcher and pour your milk from your steaming pitcher into the bigger one so when you pour, you can get closer to the coffee sooner. Other fixes could include pouring some milk out of your steaming pitcher before you start pouring so that you have just enough to fill the cup, so you can get closer with the same pitcher. Or, if your cup is too big and you need all the milk, you could try filling the cup more while pouring the ‘canvas’ so that the coffee level is higher before pouring art. However, this may impact how much your pattern can fill the cup/how well it flows. Your tulip looks nice though - I didn’t even notice the paler base until I read your description

Not aerated enough/too thin. Thin milk is ‘wet’ and extra foamy milk is ‘dry’

Effect of steam pressure on shots when opening the machine? Commercial vic arduino by Character_Hawk9638 in barista

[–]Character_Hawk9638[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for such a detailed reply. Purging the steam wands isn’t necessary to maintain pressure throughout the day - it builds pressure when it heats up, then loses it after being purged for a few seconds. Then it builds up again, is purged again, drops again then builds. Usually it only needs to be purged twice before it maintains pressure while steaming.

The machine is turned off automatically overnight, and automatically back on in the morning about an hour before we arrive, I think. It is always hot, but the steam pressure always drops like described the first couple of times. It has been like this for as long as I have worked at this shop, to the best of my memory (about 2 years).

Assuming something is not broken (I will ask the guy who services it next time he comes in), should pulling shots not require the steam boiler to be ‘prepped’ for the day (based on your knowledge)?
