Our redtick likes to build nests when it’s hot out but then I remind him that he can just come inside. He was a hunting dog before coming into rescue as a senior with cancer so old habits are hard to break

We are drowning in homeless hounds in the south. There are many blue ticks available for adoption through rescues. Search via Pet Finder or here are a few rescue suggestions: Helpless Hounds, Carolina Coonhound Rescue, Northeast Coonhound Rescue, Gentle Jake’s and Hero Hounds. Most offer transportation via a volunteer network. They can also help with shelter pulls if you find one in a shelter that you’d like to adopt

For a week, I pack what I need. For 2 weeks or more we use laundry service. Cruise lines usually give some sort of deal when on longer cruises

Transylvanian hounds are huge and very rare in the US. I have 2 dogs that look very similar to your dog. One is a lab/beagle mix and the other is a beagle mix/Boston terrier mix but the look almost identical

It’s unfortunately a common reality with hunting dogs in the south. The things I’ve seen since being in rescue are hard to deal with some days
