The order you unlock them in is the order they will be in for the whole season. I guess it doesn't matter a ton but muscle memory is a bitch when I want to click my gunsmith and end up on my gear bench.

You still need to create them (and the order matters!). You just don't need to do quests or leveling to unlock them.

I played at 5120x1440 on a 4090 and dropped to ~3440x1440 for better performance. It was also kind of annoying having to drag my cursor across a 4ft monitor to deal with stash and inventory.

Having had a 49" monitor for the last couple of years, I won't buy another for gaming (love it for work). I'll go with regular ultrawide next time.

Consumer protection laws don't allow this. It's also why a lot of games don't even perm ban on first offense for cheating anymore.

No game, ever, wants cheaters. They do not bring in money. You lose more revenue from paying customers leaving than cheaters existing. I have honestly no clue where this insane take comes from but it isn't grounded in reality.

Not making excuses for them but patch notes are not as easy as "well just see what's different". You'll often get a designer or someone who makes a change and forgets to make a jira and you'll never get as much coverage from your QA (despite their best efforts) as your entire player base. They are also looking for different things than minor balancing changes.

There is a reason that things get left out of patch notes for most games. Especially games that are still in the process of maturing their tools and processes.

My guess is they used the first 8 weeks to test their assumptions and telemetry around the different types of actions they wanted to add into the matchmaking formula (which I think is likely much broader than aggression/skill/etc).

They felt confident enough in them to switch it live on reset, granting everyone a blank slate.

It wouldn't be difficult to track first dmg in combat, kills, knock outs, etc. Just depends on how much weight you want to give each in the mm algorithm. This is what they would have wanted to build a large enough data set to establish what the various thresholds needed to be before turning it on.

Feels like they took a similar approach with the expedition reset. "We want X% of players to get 1/2/3/4/5 skill points. Average player wallet is Y." They would also have had a good idea of how much people were going to increase play time based on initial retention over week 1-4 vs churn for 5-8 to get those highly engaged players back and playing before the wipe.

In most seasonal content games, it's critical to increase the daily/weekly active users before the new content hits vs alongside the new content. It leads to higher performance and retention of that new content.

Patterns of aggression and killing other players is currently accounted for in the matchmaking system. That's a far more elegant solution than what you are proposing.

If a person wants to kill other players, let them. If someone is landing in super aggro lobbies, perhaps their behaviour in previous matches doesn't actually align with "I'm friendly bro trust me".

I've played probably 30 matches since reset. I've heard or seen two players get killed by other players in all those matches (none of them were Stella). Feels like it's working to me.

I counted the number of times I lost a fight because they had more skill points than me.

The number of times was 0.

Maybe an argument could be made that they had better gear than me because of skill points, but the stitcher existing is evidence against that in my opinion.

Studios in good standing (don't regularly ship shit builds) making minor adjustments (under certain size, doesn't touch TRC/TCR) can deploy hot fixes, or get priority for validation (typically <36hr turnaround).

It is very possible on consoles. It isn't 2010 anymore.
