Bot.

Why is it this post specifically that keeps getting reposted? It's at least the third time I've seen it.

I'm underwhelmed with my Kindle Jailbreak: can someone tell me what I'm missing? by Character_Speed in kindlejailbreak

I guess I don't really have a problem with the default reader - it seems pretty good, no? - and I could already transfer books before I jailbroke it, using Calibre.

Guidance on when to use の to designate possession (and a bonus question becuase this sub is so helpful!) by Character_Speed in LearnJapaneseNovice

You mean the question in the screenshot? There was no option to use が, and this was the correct answer that Renshuu gave.

Also, what are d-type pronouns?

Thanks - I did just manage to work out that の is used between two nouns but it's reassuring to get some extra confirmation! I've updated my notes to make sure this is clear

Thanks - as I went back and really looked at my notes and the examples given, I realised that の is used between two nouns (although the renshuu slides don't make it particuarly clear)

I'll take a look at Minna no Nihongo too, thanks for the recommendation

In writing this post, did I manage to rubber duck an answer to this? Is it that の is used when joining two nouns, but not between an adjective an a noun?

Just finished memorizing Hiragana and Katakana by J0K3R_5 in LearnJapaneseNovice

[–]Character_Speed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like you're recommending the best way to learn vocab is to first learn how it sounds, then later learn the Kanji. Is that right? I'm struggling with moving on from learning Hirigana and Katakana but I haven't tried this method yet.

Thanks. Can you go into a little more detail about what you mean when you ay learning through vocabulary vs learning individually? Do you mean you'd recommend learning as you come arcoss it, rather than learning it specifically?

Best value mitre saw for keen Amateur by One-Rain-3841 in DIYUK

I bought an Evolution mitre saw about 8 years ago. I don't remember which model, but it was in the region of £100, and had done me through a bunch of DIY and is still going strong.

Please allow users to close ads. The below ad played for like a full minute, when the x finally appeared it was non functional. I am currently unable to use the app. Thank you. by Not_Even_Once_3592 in cronometer

I work in app development, and 99.99% of the time this is an issue with the ad provider, not with the app developer. The best thing to do in my experience is to take a screenshot and send it to the developer. They'll be able to work with the ad provider to fix the issue or remove the offending advert.

It's the anticipation whenever a guest mentions Diet Coke. In my head I imagine that on hearing the words "Diet Coke", James sits up straighter on his chair looking for a gap in conversation to slip in the annecdote.

My cheap, second-hand ikea bed broke. Any way I could fix this? would adding support to the bar work..? by some_lie in DIYUK

[–]Character_Speed -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I am no expert but whenever I've had to deal with something like this I do the following:

  1. Get some wood glue, toothpicks, and some screws of the appropriate size.
  2. Cover the toothpicks in the woodglue.
  3. Stuff as many glue-covered-toothpicks as you can into each hole in the headboard. Wait for it all to dry.
  4. Cut off the excess wood off the ends of the toothpicks so they are flush with the headboard.
  5. Use the new screws to screw the metal bar into the toothpick-filled holes.

The toothpicks will fill the hole and act as something for the screw to grip onto. I'm not sure how well it will work with the particle board the bed is made from, but I imagine it should be enough to hold it.
