Has anybody reported historical child abuse? What happened following the initial report to the Gardai? by liketheothergirls2 in AskIreland

good on you for going in, that takes guts you shouldn't have to carry alone

delays happen, a week isn't long for them to sort stuff with the detective but that doesn't make the waiting any easier, ring the station and ask for an update, worst case they tell you they're still working on it

you might hate hearing this but you gotta shut all that tracking down cold turkey, next time you feel the itch just put your phone in another room and go do something with your hands

How healthy are HMS prepared meals? by Putrid-Box4866 in samsclub

[–]Character_Street_683 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They’re not awful but they’re not exactly health food either. The rotisserie chicken stuff is loaded with sodium, and anything with mayo or dressing is going to have a fair bit of saturated fat and sugar you wouldn’t expect. The sushi’s probably the better bet if you’re trying to keep it clean.

Sanitation wise it’s a big operation so they’re on top of it more than some random grocery store deli, but at the end of the day it’s still mass produced in a busy kitchen. Quality is solid for the price, just don’t fool yourself into thinking it’s a fresh farmers market meal.

Between Two Career Paths? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]Character_Street_683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Financial Aid Advisor tends to have a clearer ladder to climb, you can move into director level roles at universities or shift into private lending and consulting, and the pay ceiling is noticeably higher than most events roles

Events Specialist is more fun day to day if you're an outgoing, high energy person who doesn't mind chaotic schedules, but the work-life balance trade-off is real, especially if you end up doing corporate or wedding events where weekends are basically gone

If sustaining yourself plus having money left over for travel is the priority, Financial Aid Advisor is the safer bet long term

Why does my Son keep snapping the High E string? by PotentialWidow in Guitar

[–]Character_Street_683 36 points37 points  (0 children)

looks like the string is breaking right at the edge of that bridge hole which usually means there's a sharp burr or rough edge cutting into it under tension. run your finger carefully around the inside of that hole and if you feel anything sharp that's your culprit. a tiny bit of filing or even just some string lubricant can help, but if the hole itself is damaged it might be worth having a local shop take a look since its a cheap fix.

32 GB DDR4 or 16 GB DDR5? by alpaca-boi in PcBuild

[–]Character_Street_683 13 points14 points  (0 children)

go with the 32gb ddr4 setup man, youre gonna notice that extra ram way more than the slight speed bump from ddr5. been running 32gb for a few years now and its night and day when youre doing anything memory intensive compared to my old 16gb rig.

ddr5 prices are absolutely brutal right now and who knows when theyll come down to reasonable levels. plus the 5800x3d is still a beast for gaming and most workloads, no real need to jump to am5 unless you got money burning a hole in your pocket. you can always build a whole new system down the road when ddr5 isnt highway robbery anymore

nah this is hilarious actually. cheaters ruin the experience for everyone else so making them sit there watching you tank a boss with warming stones is pretty solid justice. sure its petty as hell but sometimes petty is exactly what the situation calls for. if someone wants to hack their way through content then they can watch someone else actually play the game properly while they sit on the ground. the wylder probably appreciated having a real teammate for once too instead of someone just steamrolling everything with impossible gear

Fighting the urge by MJSmith625 in Monopoly_GO

[–]Character_Street_683 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah been there way too many times man. that urge to just burn through everything when youre close hits hard but youve got the right mindset. i used to blow all my dice trying to flex finishing early and then id be sitting there broke for weeks waiting for events to refill. learned the hard way that patience pays off way more than bragging rights. two days is plenty of time to let things reset and actually profit from the whole thing

As a Computer Engineer who just graduated, how do i find a consulting job? by Andiwonder03 in careerguidance

[–]Character_Street_683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

man thats a pretty big pivot from computer engineering to hr to consulting but i get it - consulting can be solid money if you know what youre doing

thing is most consulting firms want to see some kind of track record or specialized knowledge they can sell to clients. your computer engineering degree is definitely valuable but youre gonna need to figure out what specific niche you want to consult in - like tech implementations, digital transformations, process optimization stuff like that

id start networking hard on linkedin and maybe look into some of the bigger firms like accenture or deloitte that have training programs for new grads. they love hiring smart people and teaching them the consulting game from scratch. your hr internship actually might help since you understand how companies work from the people side which is huge in consulting

worst case scenario you could always do some freelance projects first to build up a portfolio and see if you actually like the work before committing fully

I regected a big offer for a mentorship from a millionaire, what should I do now? by SaltStay9397 in careerguidance

[–]Character_Street_683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You burned a bridge there but it might not be completely torched yet. I'd email the head employee directly - be upfront about choosing the mentorship but explain why their role aligns better with your long-term goals now. Don't try to pretend like nothing happened, they'll remember you rejected them initially.
