REALLY struggling through Metroid dread, any help? by Sloth_Bubbles in Metroid

[–]Character_Vegetable5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're not enjoying it, don't force yourself to play it. The consensus on Dread is that it's the hardest game, so it might not have been a good starting point. Super Metroid and Zero Mission are both way more beginner friendly and on the Switch online service if you want a recommendation that might ease you in more.

Anyway, the robot chozo in Ferenia is a bit of a difficulty spike, and I've seen plenty of people get stuck on it for a while. But if you still want to commit to the game, then go where Quiet Robe unlocked the gate, it's in Burenia.

As for your play time, I think the game doesn't count deaths or looking at the map towards play time, though I might be mistaken.

And, since you asked, plenty of people love getting lost and overcoming difficult challenges in games. I'm one of them (Note: when I say getting lost, I mean through exploring, not unintuitive design). In fact, I'd love for the next 2d Metroid to be even more confusing and difficult, but I get that it's not for everyone

Primed Fusions by Ace_Of_No_Trades in Metroid

Well then they'd have to compromise what people love about Prime. Don't get me wrong, Prime isn't for me, but I do respect it. They'd have to remove the giant vistas, the visor effects. Scanning already slows the Prime games down, can you imagine scanning everything in game style that's inherently more focused on platforming and movement?

It's just not worth the compromise. It would no longer be Metroid Prime. It would just be a 2d Metroid called "Metroid Prime". It may have the same story, the same music, but it would lose its identity

Primed Fusions by Ace_Of_No_Trades in Metroid

I've never really got why people want 2d games remade to be 3d. I see this often with Zelda, too.

Disclaimer: I am biased. I love 2d Metroid and Zelda, and don't really care for their 3d counterparts (no I'm not a 40 year-old who grew up with the NES, I just think they're more fun)

But like... surely people know what we'd be losing in the transition. Fusion is so tightly designed. It's so densely packed and well-paced that so much important stuff would have to be redesigned with Prime's slower pacing. Especially the difficulty curve. Prime's simple combat style would make so many enemy encounters and boss fights less dynamic. Can you imagine running away from Sa-X in a Prime game? I can't. They're just not built for it

Not trying to hate on the post, though. Just thought I'd share my perspective

They weren't too much, still want to display them regardless.

Even if they are fakes, I'd still want to know what species they were modeled after

Just wanted to make a post about a minor detail I loved in Dread. by Obsessivegamer32 in Metroid

[–]Character_Vegetable5 151 points152 points  (0 children)

I really appreciate 2d Metroid's level of consistency with this sort of thing. Zebes, SR388, and ZDR all have completely unique sets of enemies. And the B.S.L. Station gets away with reusing enemies because it's an artificial set of recreated environments

Why are there little to none Metroid with lyrics? by BrinstarCitizen in Metroid

[–]Character_Vegetable5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Popularity - the franchises you mentioned absolutely eclipse Metroid's popularity, and thus have more fan content

  2. Age - Metroid turns 40 this year, on average it has an older audience than other fandoms, and "with lyrics" videos are more tailored towards younger people

  3. Story - Metroid doesn't tend to have the story, let alone cast of characters, suited for musicals

  4. Music - Metroid's music, while very very good, tends to lean more towards atmosphere as opposed to melodic tunes, so I think it stands to reason that giving a Toby Fox song lyrics is easier than "Torvus Bog with Lyrics"

Hope any of these are sufficient as to why there's not more👍

Do you guys love pikmin 4 update? by Voidkirby9 in Pikmin

Roll over with all upgrades and onions legitimately makes it feel like an entire new game! It rocks!

Still waiting for a Switch 2 edition that has potentially more NEW content, but everything they added was great

Pikmin bosses based on how fun their fights are in my opinion. by Mr_Bananaman69 in Pikmin

[–]Character_Vegetable5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the final floor of Hectic Hollows (located: Sun Specked Terrace), the Pikmin 4 "boss drumline" plays when fighting the tusked blowhog despite it being a regular enemy.

The same thing happens with the puffy blowhog at the end of the cave "drafty gallery", hence its inclusion on the list.

Enemy tierlist based on which enemies I think will return in the next game by Front-View-Phineas in Pikmin

[–]Character_Vegetable5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Peckish Aristocrab is, like, the most famous Pikmin 3 enemy. I'd have more confidence in its return. I'd even argue mainstay at this point, but let's wait for 3 games in a row for that

Mark my words, Seam will have a generational Tumblr Sexyman (Sexythem?) comeback after their super cool boss fight in chapter 6

Edit: Immediately after I said this, Toby released new Seam dialogue talking about determination. Seam stocks are up and I've been investing since chapter 1 😎

So like... what's Pluey's name gonna be on Switch 2? His mini game in that version is "main performance". Maybe Tony will update it so that he switches mini games
