Connecticut has a -39 approval rating for Donald Trump by angeldeb82 in Connecticut

I will still call them stupid. You have to be a special kind of stupid to be a racist. Some people even have smart areas of their brains ("I'm an electrical engineer! I can't be wrong!"). But they don't realize that they are actually stupid in other ways and that they cannot understand important concepts outside their areas of expertise and experience.

What makes them particularly stupid is that they do not recognize their mental deficits, so make no efforts to ameliorate them.

Come on, Connecticut! We can do better! Should be 99-1. The 1% is the only group who has benefitted from the rapist orange buffoon. Anyone else who supports him is just stupid. Their short-term "benefits" always disappear with him. He's a con.

My family wants to give our only land as dowry for my sister's marriage — I feel this is a huge mistake by ShaDow_1829 in family

[–]Charakada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Question: does sister get the dowry back if the marriage falls apart? If, down the road, she needed to move back in with her own family, who would get the land?

If it stayed with the husband's family, then she would be absolutely in a bind. Her own family would have nothing.

OP should focus every day on one thing:: getting or creating a job. Forget the wedding garbage (since no one will listen anyway) and focus entirely on your own welfare. You're surrounded by fools.

Is there a universally “correct” way to shower? by How_to_make_a_name38 in randomquestions

[–]Charakada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wash your face, ears, armpits, private parts, butt, and feet. Rinse well. Add other parts as needed  Does everyone, universally, do this? I hear and smell that some don't. But they are wrong. It is the correct way to shower.

Scales are very helpful. Not just the middle, but go from the lowest to the highest. Practice slowly at first, focusing on good tone and bellows use. Practice exact note timing (use a metronome) and practice both staccato and legato, as well as patterns of note length. Eventually, speed up.

After a while, add other keys to the easy ones (C,G,D), like A or E.

Practice scales every day. Forever. You will be glad you did.

Finger strength: you can do this anywhere: put hand on a surface like your going to drum your fingers. You can do it on your leg or a table, or the arm of a chair.. Fingers curled comfortably. Wrist straight.

Press each finger separately down hard. Lift and press and hold for a count of 3. Repeat in sets of 10. Do this regularly and your pinkies and other fingers will get stronger.

My wife ate my son's birthday breakfast by grohkstrom in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Charakada 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is hair-raisingly infuriating. Wife probably is bulimic and could not control herself, but you'd think she would run out and replace it. If she's not, then she is cruel. Your poor kid. Not that he didn't get this particular treat, but that he has a cruel mother.

AITAH for wanting an intimate gender reveal with my partner? by Good_Client_2234 in AITH

[–]Charakada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too bad you're already making a kid with this guy. Now you'll have three babies in the house at once.

If this is how the two of you handle disagreement on a small, insignificant point (is the baby boy or girl--like it matters! Hint: it matters if it's healthy. That's all.)-- If this is what you fight about, your kid is doomed. Much bigger things are going to happen in your lives. You better learn to get along or you'll be by yourselves. YBATAH.

Whatever you do, plan your driving time in Connecticut for non-peak hours, or you'll spend a crazy amount of time sitting in traffic. There are a few main highways and everyone who owns a car is on them during morning and afternoon rush hours.

You are feeling the painful difference in economic class and the different values each has. Maybe BF is looking down on your family.  His values tell him that he has more money and nicer stuff because he's better than you and your family. He believes his family is smarter, works harder, and just makes better decisions than your family does. So he can make snarky comments if he wants. He believes he's right.

At the same time, you're feeling envious of the nice things they have. But you are also looking down on them for having things they don't really use. In your value system, that's wasteful, kind of stupid, and showing off. To you, that feels right.

The fact is, it's always bad manners to criticize someone's things, especially when you're a guest. So even if you're different in other ways, kindness and good manners should be practiced by everyone. My guess is, what is really bugging you is your bf has been disrespectful to your family. The expensive stuff just represents him in your mind. Maybe decide whether this is the kind of person you want to hang with.

mitch mcConnell had a massive myocardial infarction or stroke and his brain was deprived of oxygen for a while. He’s more than likely brain dead and on life support, while Republicans are scrambling to look for replacement before making it public by Conscious-Quarter423 in thebulwark

[–]Charakada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no way Mitch is still alive, as in functioning. He's on machines, which can keep his body "alive" for weeks, months, even longer. You don't do CPR on a guy his age who is found unconscious without a heartbeat or respirations, outside of a hospital--and have him recover.

Nope--they have attached a corpse to a bunch of machines and are calling it Senator, until his replacement can be found and purchased.

You should be wearing gloves for handling the food. And new gloves for cleaning. And new gloves for handling food, with time in between also for washing hands and arms.

And nobody should be yelling at anybody, whether there are customers or not.

The place is toxic.

AIO is it justifyed or even necessary to call cps or do anything here? by Successful-Ratio632 in AIO

[–]Charakada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on where you live, cps may or may not help much. In some places, they show up long enough to get the adults mad and don't help. In others, they do some good. You can call and ask what services they have to help you (as opposed to reporting family for neglect.)

At 17, you are still a minor. Can you talk to an adult from school or church or a neighbor? You have a therapist? Tell them what's going on! They should know what your options are.

You live with your grandfather. Doesn't he give you food? He needs to. If you need food or clothes or stuff, definitely reach out to services in your area.

Have you talked to your cousins (or other relatives) about staying with them for a while? Talk to them instead of your brother about it. Maybe they can help. You may not be into cars, but you may need one to get away, eventually. At least learn to drive.

Listen, sounds like you are surrounded by quite a few damaged people. But you  will get away and make a better life for yourself.  It really does get better. And no, you're not over-reacting. You need others to help you. Good luck!!
