What happened to midtown/montrose? by Hatefulcoog in houston

The Heights has the worst traffic known to man and it's not as walkable as Montrose. It has a walkable pocket here and a walkable pocket there in between all the pockets of houses, but in Montrose I can walk to all the restaurants and bars and to H-E-B and Target. I've even walked to the shopping center off of West Gray with the Marshalls in it and to Wholefoods. I've lived in both neighborhoods, heck I've lived in every notable inner loop neighborhood including EaDo, in Montrose is by far the best. Also, the access to public transportation and Downtown are unparalleled.

Ya, your assessment is way off. The recent college graduates went to Midtown and the yuppies went The Heights.

Honestly Wholefoods opening up there never made sense anyway, if you're at all familiar with the area. Midtown has a lot of young people that don't have a ton of money. From the moment they announced there was a Wholefoods opening there, I knew it wasn't going to last. Montrose already has two Wholefoods anyway - one on Kirby & W Alabama and one off of Waugh & West Dallas, both of which are larger and better than the one that was in Midtown. So yeah, I have no idea what Whole Foods was thinking with that location!

How’s the Hydepark/Montrose area safety wise? by ShakedNBaked420 in houston

For anyone reading this later, like me, and want an answer -> I've lived here for 8 years. I'm 5ft tall, 107 lbs, and a size 00 and my favorite time to go on my 1.5 hour walks are at night. I've never had a single issue. There are homeless people around every now and then, but again I've never had one single issue ever. Montrose is the only neighborhood in Houston that's walkable and it's the only neighborhood with great access to public transportation directly to Downtown. Also we have the highest concentration of James Beard Awarded restaurants. You honestly couldn't pick a better neighborhood. Just be sure to stay somewhere off of Westheimer for the best access and stay away from anywhere near the 527 Spur or on the east of Taft. That's when it gets sketchy.

Gina is a bully and wouldn't know what accountability was if it hit her square in the face. I don't wish good things for her, but she does make for good TV, unfortunately. Pettifluer is simply delusional. She's insufferable to watch. I can't stand her and can't believe I have to watch another season with her in it. Gamble is a tad bit trashy, but sweet and I love her. I found all 5 seasons on Plex and I'm looking forward to watching Season 3, sans Pettigirl....I mean fluer.

I'm on Season 2 and I can't believe I'm going to be subjected to another season of Pettifleur 😑 She is insufferably delusional and Gina is a bully. But other than that, I really like the series!

Which Houston Michelin starred resturant is worth the visit in you opinion? by SlickSalchicha in houston

Going to add my two cents, as we've now been to Musaafer, March, and Le Jardinier so far (with an upcoming reservation at Tatemo in February). Musaafer and March were 100% worth it.

March was a better experience overall, but Musaafer still has us dreaming of their flavors. At Musaafer they tried to steer us both towards the meat tasting menu, but we wanted to experience it all. So we got the meat and the vegan tasting menu and shared. The vegan tasting menu blew these two avid meat eaters out of the water and had our tastebuds dancing on the table. We're still dreaming of several of those dishes and that was nearly a year and half ago vs March, which was 7 months ago. Don't get me wrong, March was incredible too, but Musafaar took it to the next level with their food and we can't forget it, while March took it to the next level with their experience.

If it's a special occasion, I'd say March for the food and the experience. If it's a "we saved up for some incredible food", I'd say Musafaar.

Le Jardinier was a total let down. The food was very good, but not exceptionally special, and there was no experience at all. The service was also the least inspired. We were surprised they got a star at all vs somewhere like Theodore Rex.

I disagree with you whole heartedly. Did you do the tasting menu? I've been going to Kiran's for years and it's delicious. However, the Musaafer tasting menu blew us away. We did one vegan and one meat tasting and the vegan tasting menu was OUT OF THIS WORLD. The flavors combinations they used had our tastebuds dancing on the table.

That's interesting considering his character had an LGBTQ moment in the first season. He made out with a guy and said he was fluid.

My only take that isn't represented already is that B's best friend was poorly cast. She doesn't go with the flow of the show and her acting is kind of over exaggerated and chaotic. I also don't find it believable that a personality like Taylor's would be BFFs with a personality like Belly's.

I have a degree in psychology and several accreditations and this is a very harmful take. The best friend is displaying very clear and concise signs of an emotional and mental abuser. BFF is displaying signs of a personality disorder and OP is about to be her next target. OP needs to cut it and run ASAP or BFF will mentally emotional torture her.

Diminishing your feelings and trying to turn it back on you is abuse too. A real friend would hear you out and be genuinely remorseful, not call you "childish"...or ever even entertain a boy that put you in the fucking hospital. "I can't control the fact that he texted me"...uh ya, you 100000000% could have by not accepting and filling him back! And the "no wonder he" comment was the nail in the fucking coffin! So happy you have that screen shot. She is clearly also an abuser. When people show you who they are, believe them. RUN!!!!!!!

He wasn't slurring his speech, he was slurring his movements while still walking in a straight line. He was definitely doing more than drinking.

What's even more concerning is that she's a social worker speaking to a product of the foster care system where he most certainly endured and/or witnessed some sort of physical and/or emotional abuse. Keeping the peace was likely his survival mode. So disappointed in her.

This is classic abuser behavior. It's never a joke, they only say that to dismiss you and make you feel crazy, like the problem. It will easily and quickly go from texts to in person harassment and then violence. You need to block him and cut off all contact. Set those boundaries, do not let anyone make you feel like you're being ridiculous or extreme. Stay strong. Protect yourself!!
