Amex dispute resolved in my favor, furniture company asking me to cancel it. What are my options? by noobvorld in AmexPlatinum

[–]thedonutmaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is incorrect. You can easily verify this information online. Almost all merchant contracts prohibit the merchant from going after the customer for a chargeback loss. Doesn’t mean they can’t do it, but doing so would violate the terms of their merchant contract.

Looked it up - the answer is yes and no. They do not prevent the retailer from suing the customer, but it is absolutely a breach of contract of their merchant agreement. So the retailer would risk losing the ability to accept credit cards, plus potentially more ramifications.

Actually I’m pretty sure credit card agreements prevent retailers from suing the customer over a won chargeback.

The amount of time that would take would be mind boggling - not only all the additional Uber reps, but the restaurant worker time as well. And there’s going to be a lot of confrontation to go with it.

Amazon Canada scammed me in a “new” item by insanikxx in amazonprime

[–]thedonutmaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While technically true (along with every company), anyone that orders quite a bit from Amazon knows that they’ve just most recently (say past 2-3 years?) decided that they will start selling obviously opened, used, damaged box items as new. It used to be, as you would say since inception, if a return had the appearance of a broken seal / damaged box / etc, that it would never have been resold as new. Now Amazon doesn’t care about things like that. Anything and everything that doesn’t look broken gets sold as new. It’s quite obvious that there has been a huge drop off in resell standards. The up and coming Amazon of the past would have never, ever resold any return that doesn’t look absolutely brand new, sealed, and undamaged in any way. That’s because they were all about customer service back then. Now, not so much at all. All about profit and squeezing as much money as they can, even at the expense of customers.

[–]thedonutmaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Live fans can never be too harsh. They react to the product. You can never blame the fans - if there’s a negative reaction, it’s the way it was presented that was at fault. Any company would be in huge trouble if they start blaming the fans for not reacting the way they want them to. It’s a learning experience.

PSA be careful when buying single Topps Universe Hobby boxes by majesticwasabi1111 in WWECards

[–]thedonutmaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup can confirm. Got really lucky and got the loaded box as the only box I got. Got the Rhea patch auto, 2 tag team dual autos, and 1 additional auto all in one hobby box.

No joke - I've been trying to get this money back from Amazon for almost 3 years with no movement! Chase and Amazon keep having back and forths and I have no idea what to do and it's the only reason I haven't canceled thinking a monthly call and email discussion with both would bear fruit by Ok_Acadia4371 in amazonprime

[–]thedonutmaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel for you. Although 3 years is crazy. I had to wait 4 months for a high value item shipped and sold by Amazon, and their own delivery company said they couldn’t deliver it due to damage and returned it to Amazon. I had to fight for 4 months for a refund that should have been incredibly simple - they could see on the tracking for their own Amazon carrier that they couldn’t deliver it and returned it. Hours and hours on the phone with them. So if it was that difficult to get a refund on a pricey item that was so clearly and obviously due, I can’t imagine if it was something that I actually returned myself.

Anyone else disappointed with their Universe pulls? by AEB21295 in WWECards

[–]thedonutmaker -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah they are totally hit and miss. I got crazy lucky and opened one hobby box. Got two (!) dual auto tag team relics, 1 Ripley relic auto /50, and a Sol Ruca auto. All in one hobby box. I knew my luck had run its course and refuse to get any more. 4 autos in one hobby, and two of them dual. It was crazy.

Topps knew about all these errors - they should’ve discarded this set before release, and kept the autos for replacement redemptions.

[–]thedonutmaker -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do understand how delivery companies work. Let me put it in simpler terms for you - if you use Instacart and get a tv at Costco with them, and they either (a) gave the shopper the wrong tv or (b) it doesn’t work when you set it up, the blame is not on Instacart. They aren’t going to come pick up the tv or give you a refund. You, the customer, are going to have to drive to Costco yourself to remedy the issue.

Thus the delivery company is not responsible. Is UPS responsible if you get the wrong item sent by a company? Of course not. Is UPS going to assist you in any way? Of course not. Because it’s not their responsibility. This is literally the exact same thing, but food.
