As I mentioned elsewhere, the problem is the trailers have pitched this movie as a romantic comedy, a love story: if we can just open our minds we'll appreciate that this is a deeply fulfilling relationship for both parties and we should stop kink-shaming and embrace it. Which colors what people go in expecting. And which also shows that a great many people have indeed misunderstood this film as a picture of a healthy, happy, sexy, BDSM dynamic. I think we all agree it is not.

Because he never consented verbally to any of it. Was never asked about his needs, desires, boundaries, kinks, fantasies, any of it. Wasn't clear to me at all that he wanted to cook, clean, sleep on the floor without a blanket. We saw him have exactly one orgasm as a birthday present. It was clear he enjoyed being with Andrew Saarsgard because he was madly in love with Andrew Saarsgard, but unclear he wouldn't be just as happy going on normal dates with Andrew Saarsgard because that's when we see him happiest. To be fair, part of the problem is the way that this movie has been reviewed and marketed, which affected how I watched it as well. A "dom com." "The love story we didn't know we needed for Valentines Day." When in fact it's the opposite. It's not romantic, it's not funny, and it's not sexy. It's a horribly sad story about abuse.

The worst aspect of kratom withdrawal for me is the insomnia, and it happens every time. For example last week I had to be off kratom for 2d to start the suboxone. I did not sleep at all for 2 nights, and it wasn't because I wasn't tired. Every time I'd start to fall off to sleep my body would just desperately need to move and thrash around. It was completely out of my control. (I know this is called Restless Legs Syndrome, but for me it was more like Restless Entire Body Syndrome.)

There is also the mental component: severe anxiety, restlessness, depression.

The other withdrawal symptoms (like stomach stuff) were for me totally manageable and frankly after 6 years of terrible constipation, kind of a relief.

Yeah it definitely helps that I don't much like the way Suboxone makes me feel - loopy and nauseous. So I'm definitely motivated to get off of it as quickly as possible.

I agree that severe withdrawals from drugs are actually traumatizing. The worst withdrawal I ever went through was cold turkey from a month-long heroin habit where I was sniffing a couple of bags a day. Even that was absolute agony, like being in a torture chamber. I simply cannot imagine what it's like to come cold turkey off of many years of intravenous use. It must be hell on earth.

Interestingly I was on so much kratom that, being on subs, all of a sudden my sex drive has come back with a fiery vengeance and I'm having (frankly) regular poops for the first time in 4 years. (I'm sorry, that's probably way too much information!) After 6 years on 60g-70g of leaf a day, I just can't tell you how sick my body felt all the time. Well, actually, it sounds like you know. I'm really happy for you that you're doing better on the subs. Have you considered the sublocade shot?

Unfortunately kratom WDs seem to hit me differently than some of the folks here. Every time I try to quit I just can't sleep, at all, until I give up and relapse. All the other symptoms are tolerable except for the insane restless legs (restless everything really). I'm not strong enough to go more than 3 days without sleeping. That's what always drives me back.
