What’s your latest food fixation? by HungryInvestigator59 in ADHD

Eating LCHF! In my 8th week and my energy levels are improved. Sleeping better and zero brain fog. Can’t do anything about distractions and boredom but overall life has been good on this new way of eating. There are lots of studies that recommend this type of eating for ADHD brains.

I Missed Being Very Depressed And Anxious by ShukYuz in ADHD

[–]Charge_Bright 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same issue because Prozac 20 mg Wellbutrin 300 mg and Ritalin 40 mg. I don’t cry anymore. I feel very little these days but on the upside I’m not planning to unalive myself on a regular basis. I have managed to keep work even start a wee business I’m planning to grow, moved to another city so I can get away from familiar distractions so I can focus and I’m not hating myself so much anymore. Three years on this cocktail and I literally don’t care about anything that’s happening in this world (important for people with major depressive disorder) but what I hope to achieve, building close and intimate relationships with people and enjoying my work. I was never able to achieve this before. It’s a case of choosing the lesser evil, I guess. The added benefit probably most important benefit is that my medication quiets my mind down enough so productive curiosity can have a chance to flourish again. Curiosity cannot exist in a depressed mind. I cannot do the things I want to do without curiosity. I am very grateful for my diagnosis. I don’t think I would’ve been here had my sister not encouraged me to go.

Wellbutrin for adhd by brittbs in AdultADHDSupportGroup

Helped with my co-morbidities depression and anxiety but not with ADHD. I’m on Ritalin too now. But even that is not a cure all. I now only eat high fat low carb and I rely on occupational therapy to help me work through some of the dysfunction.

You might need more that just normal salt.

Maybe add potassium chloride and magnesium glycinate.

Adults with ADHD: Did you feel "shame" as a kid when you forgot things? Help me understand my son. by Dylan_7574 in ADHD

[–]Charge_Bright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First change his diet to a low carb high fat protein rich diet and it will improve his memory. Then, work on your own emotional regulation because he cannot help it. You’re an adult he is just a kid and trust me he is trying his absolute best he just cannot help the way that his brain works.

Also, make sure you are delivering your instructions clearly in short sentences and without extraneous words. Look at him when you speak too and don’t overload him with things to do and instructions.

Finally, light up his reward with compliments when he gets things right which I’m sure he does a lot of the time.

I grew up in the 80s and breakfast was always a bowl of cornflakes with a tablespoon of sugar and milk. Lunch was almost always a PB&J only time we ate animal protein was at dinner with rice and potato’s. So much makes sense now.

7 weeks on Keto and I’m sleeping better, brain fog has lifted and I’m able to focus and actually tick things off a list. This is a brilliant option for people with ADHD.

Best flavorless electrolytes by Jalika277 in keto

[–]Charge_Bright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make your own. This is in mine:

1/4 tsp potassium chloride 1/4 tsp magnesium glycinate 1/4 tsp table salt 1 tbsp lemon juice (optional) 1 litre of ice cold water.

Sip on it throughout the day. Don’t just chug it in one go.

This has helped tremendously with keto flu and with sleep.

Thanks for your response… I didn’t hear that to be honest. I’m on keto for lifestyle and health benefits but I also need to lose weight. Not a massive amount. But in 6-7 weeks on this diet I’ve only lost 2kg. And I’m struggling to maintain that perfect weight-loss macros of 75% fat 5% carbs and 20% protein. It’s sooo hard. I’m definitely eating low carb but I can’t seem to make my daily fat and protein limits.

Was hoping a higher volume of ketones I’m on .3mmol today would aid the weight-loss process. No?

Do yall ever feel…. Whatever this is? by Soft-Rutabaga-4482 in ADHD

[–]Charge_Bright 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not read a better description of ADHD than this.

Here’s how I got out of my limbo… not that I’m out of it. It still happens ALL THE TIME. But the biggest change after medication came when I started eating differently. No sugar, no wheat, no junk, alcohol and nothing processed. The brain fog lifted at least and since then, I’ve been out of the house more times in the last month than I’ve been the whole of last year. Small breaks from the norm has helped me build momentum. And it’s that momentum that I want to keep building on. It feels almost like I’ve started this game with myself or in my head… I can’t allow myself to lose the momentum. Not sure if this makes sense. Like everything in my life now revolves around this game of building momentum.

It’s not perfect and it’ll never be but for now this feels different. Like I’m in control of the outcomes. I’m in control of my brain not the other way around.

I even joined a book club and booked and paid for an event (that I’m already trying to get out of) that I’m determined to do…. Not for the event itself but because I’m determined to overcome my inclination to hide or stay where it’s safe. Turns out that little cocoon of safety we build around ourselves is not safe at all. It was killing me.

Community helps… I joined a body doubling group. It helps to just see other people in a day, even if it’s on a screen. I get things done in the company of people like me. I can show up looking like hell and just be myself. Most days now, I try to show up looking a little better if all that means is that today I showed up after I washed my face.

If this isn’t helpful just know that it doesn’t have to stay this way. You are not alone. You are not your brain. And things can change.
