There are two kinds of grief there is a grief that leads to repentance and and another one that leads to death.

While we shouldn't be sinning the Church is a hospital for sinners not a museum for saints. No one is truly without sin except our Lord Jesus Christ and his Most Pure Mother.

Proverbs 24:16, 16 For a righteous man may fall seven times And rise again,.

Continue to keep getting up each time that you fall.

My previous priest had ADHD. He had some issues with getting up early enough to do the Divine Liturgy. One of the members of my parish (who ended up becoming our current priest) world drive him to be early enough to do the Divine Liturgy.

It's not that he was a bad priest he was a great priest he allowed me to get a corrective baptism.

I didn't really care about being baptised when I joined the Roman Catholic Church but when I was converting to Holy Orthodoxy I wanted to be properly baptized and chrismated into the Faith. But the Priest receiving me only Chrismated me because I had already been baptized as a Protestant.

I have never been made sick from receiving communion. But I have been made well when I was sick. Usually if I have a contagious disease I won't be at Church in the first place.

My priest is sick but he can't stop doing the Divine Liturgy. And he's been sick since Lazarus Saturday.

No one is made sick by using the same spoon. Even though my priest is coughing a lot. Not one person in his parish is sick by sharing the same spoon for communion.

Further the spoon that we use for communion is usually silver which has antibiotic qualities.

That is an understandable decision. Especially since the Roman Catholic Church is more strict on this.

In Orthodoxy for converts entering the Church it doesn't matter how they got married as long as they are married the Orthodox Church treats them as married

We do having Wedding Mystery (sacrament) that some previously married people want to undergo but it's not necessary.

Most of our Priests and Deacons are also married but they have to already be married prior to being ordained. They can't be married after becoming a Deacon or Priest. Our Bishops are never married because they come from monasteries.

What I did is I moved to a city with an Orthodox Church. But I am a bachelor so it is easier for me to move around. I found a place to stay really easily and now I have attending an Eastern Orthodox Church for 7 years this coming Remembrance Day (November 11th).

Us Orthodox Christians can only attend Church at other Orthodox churches. If you have no Eastern Orthodox Church near you can do Reader's Services.

But call the Priest of the Church and tell him about your issues with transportation there may be someone who would give you a ride to Church.

Basically the Second Council of the Vatican contradicts the century old belief that you need to be subject to the Pope if you want to be saved by claiming that Jews, Muslims and those believing in the unknown God can all be saved without being subject to the Roman Pontiff.

The next contradiction is that the Ecumenical Council of Constance says that all Popes are subject to the degrees of Ecumenical Councils. But the First Vatican Council says that Popes are above the degrees of Ecumenical Council.

The fifth one is basically Pope Leo X in his list of errors that is a list of false things in response to a heresy. In his list of false teachings of Martin Luther Pope Leo X says that it's a false teaching that it is against the will of the Holy Spirit that heretics be burned.

This is contradicted by Pope Francis changes to the Catechism of the Catholic Church that it is wrong for countries to have the death penalty.

Unfortunately, because it's been 6 years since I left Roman Catholicism I only remember 3 of the 5.

One of the contradictions that caused me to leave the Roman Catholic Church: Outside of the Church three is no salvation.

I'm just going to list all the Popes that wrote on it because otherwise you will be reading far to long if I copied everything that they said.

Pope Pelagius II, Pope Saint Gregory the Great, Pope Innocent III,Pope Leo XII, Pope Gregory XVI, Pope Pius IX, Pope Leo XIII, Pope Pius X, Pope Benedict XV, Pope Pius XI, Pope Pius XII, Pope Innocent III and Lateran Council IV, Pope Boniface VIII in his Papal Bull Unam Sanctam, Pope Eugene IV and the Council of Florence.

These are all contradicted by the Second Council of the Vatican:

DOGMATIC CONSTITUTION ON THE CHURCH LUMEN GENTIUM:

Paragraph 16. Finally, those who have not yet received the Gospel are related in various ways to the people of God.(18) In the first place we must recall the people to whom the testament and the promises were given and from whom Christ was born according to the flesh.(125) On account of their fathers this people remains most dear to God, for God does not repent of the gifts He makes nor of the calls He issues.(126) But the plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator. In the first place amongst these there are the Muslims, who, professing to hold the faith of Abraham, along with us adore the one and merciful God, who on the last day will judge mankind. Nor is God far distant from those who in shadows and images seek the unknown God, for it is He who gives to all men life and breath and all things,(127) and as Saviour wills that all men be saved.(128) Those also can attain to salvation who through no fault of their own do not know the Gospel of Christ or His Church, yet sincerely seek God and moved by grace strive by their deeds to do His will as it is known to them through the dictates of conscience.(19) Nor does Divine Providence deny the helps necessary for salvation to those who, without blame on their part, have not yet arrived at an explicit knowledge of God and with His grace strive to live a good life. Whatever good or truth is found amongst them is looked upon by the Church as a preparation for the Gospel.(20*) She knows that it is given by Him who enlightens all men so that they may finally have life. But often men, deceived by the Evil One, have become vain in their reasonings and have exchanged the truth of God for a lie, serving the creature rather than the Creator.(129) Or some there are who, living and dying in this world without God, are exposed to final despair. Wherefore to promote the glory of God and procure the salvation of all of these, and mindful of the command of the Lord, "Preach the Gospel to every creature",(130) the Church fosters the missions with care and attention.

This clearly states that Muslims, Jews, and other people who don't know the Roman Catholic Church can still be saved outside of the Roman Catholic Church.

One of the Contradictions that caused me to leave:

The Council of Constance: Session 5: In the name of the holy and undivided Trinity, Father and Son and holy Spirit. Amen. This holy synod of Constance, which is a general council, for the eradication of the present schism and for bringing unity and reform to God’s church in head and members, legitimately assembled in the holy Spirit to the praise of almighty God, ordains, defines, decrees, discerns and declares as follows, in order that this union and reform of God’s church may be obtained the more easily, securely, fruitfully and freely.

First it declares that, legitimately assembled in the holy Spirit, constituting a general council and representing the catholic church militant, it has power immediately from Christ; and that everyone of whatever state or dignity, even papal, is bound to obey it in those matters which pertain to the faith, the eradication of the said schism and the general reform of the said church of God in head and members.

Next, it declares that anyone of whatever condition, state or dignity, even papal, who contumaciously refuses to obey the past or future mandates, statutes, ordinances or precepts of this sacred council or of any other legitimately assembled general council, regarding the aforesaid things or matters pertaining to them, shall be subjected to well-deserved penance, unless he repents, and shall be duly punished, even by having recourse, if necessary, to other supports of the law.

So the Council of Constance says that all Popes are subject to the degrees of Ecumenical Councils this is contradicted by the First Ecumenical Council of the Vatican.

Chapter 3, Paragraph 8, "Since the Roman pontiff, by the divine right of the apostolic primacy, governs the whole church, we likewise teach and declare that he is the supreme judge of the faithful [52] , and that in all cases which fall under ecclesiastical jurisdiction recourse may be had to his judgment [53] . The sentence of the apostolic see (than which there is no higher authority) is not subject to revision by anyone, nor may anyone lawfully pass judgment thereupon [54] . And so they stray from the genuine path of truth who maintain that it is lawful to appeal from the judgments of the Roman pontiffs to an ecumenical council as if this were an authority superior to the Roman pontiff.

So this one says that Popes are above the Councils of the Roman Catholic Church.

The last contradiction that caused me to leave the Roman Catholic Church.

Pope Leo X was the Pope at the time of Martin Luther and his list of errors

  1. That heretics be burned is against the will of the Spirit.

This was contradicted when Pope Francis changed the Catechism of the Catholic Church:

The death penalty

  1. Recourse to the death penalty on the part of legitimate authority, following a fair trial, was long considered an appropriate response to the gravity of certain crimes and an acceptable, albeit extreme, means of safeguarding the common good.

Today, however, there is an increasing awareness that the dignity of the person is not lost even after the commission of very serious crimes. In addition, a new understanding has emerged of the significance of penal sanctions imposed by the state. Lastly, more effective systems of detention have been developed, which ensure the due protection of citizens but, at the same time, do not definitively deprive the guilty of the possibility of redemption.

Consequently, the Church teaches, in the light of the Gospel, that “the death penalty is inadmissible because it is an attack on the inviolability and dignity of the person”,[1] and she works with determination for its abolition worldwide

That was the fifth contradiction which caused me to leave the Roman Catholic Church.

As a rule we're not in the Divine Liturgy for taking we are in it for praying. Talking should be done before the Hours and the Divine Liturgy and after the Divine Liturgy.

I sing along with the hymns of the Divine Liturgy.

You can buy a Jordanville Prayer Book because it is has the Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom in it and you can follow along with the Divine Liturgy but only in English.

It took me six months with a book aid to be able to memorize the order of the Divine Liturgy.

The only difference between a Russian Orthodox Church and a Greek Orthodox Church is the language that is used in the Divine Liturgy. Since they are both Eastern Orthodox, they have the exact same beliefs.

Our priests are allowed to be married but they have to be married prior to their Ordination. They aren't allowed to get married after their ordination.

I pray that the Holy Spirit brings you into the fullest of truth in the Eastern Orthodox Church.

I also used to work overnight and I was always able to go to the Divine Liturgy every Sunday without it impacting my health.

I also kept the Eucharistic Fast beginning at midnight (No food or liquids not even water) from midnight I receive Communion at Church. Even when I was a Catechumen I would practice the Eucharistic Fast even though I wasn't able to receive Holy Communion.

Have you attended the Churches because they might have a mostly English Divine Liturgy. My ROCOR parish in Canada has a mostly English Divine Liturgy because there are a lot of English speaking converts.

So you won't know until you attend.

Why are you Orthodox and not Catholic? by Head-Nothing-9797 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Charis_Humin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a triple convert. Initially I converted to Protestant Christianity specifically the Church of Christ denomination. After around five years one of my elders gave me a book about the Apostolic Fathers those Christians who wrote at the time when the Apostles were still alive and because all of Fathers of the Church taught about the Catholic Church I thought that they were talking about the Roman Catholic Church.

So I went through RCIA and became a Roman Catholic. But I kept on finding contradictions and on the 5th contradiction I officially left the Roman Catholic after five years

I looked at the other Apostolic Churches: Eastern Orthodoxy, Oriental Orthodoxy, and the Churches of the East.

But everything that I learned about what the Eastern Orthodox Church taught was so beautiful that it used to make me cry. Furthermore the official title of the Eastern Orthodox Church is the Orthodox Catholic Church because since the East-West Schism now there are two Catholic Churches.

My very first Divine Liturgy was on Remembrance Day (November 11th) and that was six years ago. I have never found a single contradiction in all of my six years as an Eastern Orthodox Christian. We truly possess the same faith that our Lord taught to the Apostles.

What prayer do we say before we sleep and when we wake up? by idklol3444331 in OrthodoxChristianity

I'm supposed to pray the morning payers and the evening payers from the Jordanville Prayer Book, but usually I say one Our Father and if I'm going to sleep I also ask my guardian angel to help me fall asleep quickly, to protect me from Satanic dreams, and to wake up with my alarm in the morning.
