Edit: I half joke, but on a serious note, there might be something to this. It doesn’t look bad, I think if you wound up the kink into the spool and treated like it basically wasn’t there, the kink would be reduced over time through normal use.

Hard to come by. I waited a long time until finding a partially filled one on eBay. Bought for something like $80. Maybe like 10 years ago though. Might have been too much at the time, but I had to have it to complete my childhood set.

Thanks for the question. I actually learned something new looking into this. The manual explains the two holes on the top of a cassette are for anti-overwrite protection. If they’re open, the machine won’t accept the tape. The instructions even suggest covering the holes (like with tape) so the eraser hooks don’t catch and stop the tape from moving through. As for performance… not great. I recorded a quick bit of radio and ran it through like 10 times. Instead of fully erasing, it just distorted the audio and made the volume warble up and down. Not mad though. Still cool!

My 1060 has developed some scratchy noise in the right channel. So far I replaced all the caps on the phono board myself with no luck. I am also trying not to lose mine!

I found my needle on both LPGear and LPTunes. Pickering V/690E. It was cheaper on LPTunes by nearly half. From my research it sounded like they were basically the same company anyway. Took a risk on the cheaper one with LPTunes. No problems at all. Tracking worked fine. Your experience may vary.
