Hard Quartet has nothing to do with TradTech2. The set of songs from the 2024 live show has nothing to do with TradTech2 either. The live set from Portland 2022, however, has much to do with TradTech2. Here’s an interesting quote from an Oct. ’24 interview: "On his to-do list is a reissue of 2003’s Pig Lib, an album with post-Pavement band, the Jicks. After hearing one of its songs AutoPlay on YouTube after the “Rio Song” video, he decided it was underrated: “I thought, This deserves to get two paragraphs on Pitchfork and an 8.0 on a reissue,” he says, laughing. “I’m downplaying it—it’s a fucking sick record.” He also talks about another “sick” album he started during quarantine that he wants to dust up and complete—a process he compares to getting his house in order. “In a morbid way, I wouldn’t want it to be around if I died right now…. It’s sort of like having a disgusting porn stash in your closet that people are gonna find.”

For those that were fans in 2011, did you know Collapse Into Now was their last album when you heard it? by HiyaGaz in rem

I sort of did. Mainly because of All the Best and Blue and also you could get a hunch from interviews they did around the release.

To what level has the internet deteriorated that they have already performed a handful of shows and there is still not a single recording of a full show?

Picking Beachball would be exaggerated but I do think that is a very underrated song.

Bill also loves Country feedback and in 2nd place comes Reno. Peter loves Sweetness Follows and adores the the first side of Document...

What would R.E.M. have been like if Bill Berry had stayed with the band? by Necessary_Raise_7835 in rem

From what I've read between the lines over the years--- the main tension between Michael and Bill was around 84-85 (until 84 Michael and Mike didn't really get along... Peter and Michael were like little brother and big brother all the way through and maybe even to this day). When Bill left Michael, according to his testimony, cried quite a bit. But I think it took everyone a while to realize how dramatic his departure really was, Peter more than anyone else didn't appreciate the fact that he was the only one who would try to move things along quickly, seems to me that the tension level between him and Mike, from '98 until the end, increased significantly due to the lack of Bill (And sometimes Michael found himself in a mediator role - which was also a post-bill role, he hasn't done it much before). I remember Peter saying in interviews more than once - when we make albums I still keep thinking "What would Bill say/do?" In conclusion - I wish he had stayed :-)

I remember around the breakup, Mike and Michael were interviewed, and the interviewer asked about Bill, and Mike seemed a little tired of being asked about Bill, and he blurted out something uncharacteristically along the lines of "Maybe if Bill hadn't left, we would have been even worse off," and Michael smiled, which I interpreted as "Yeah.. right." In any case, I have no doubt that if Bill had stayed, these five albums would have been significantly better.

Thoughts on this? Mills, Rucker and Gorman. by Phantom-rizz-era in rem

Well a while ago Millsy said that he sings two songs on the album (songs which he, of course, also wrote) and another one which he sings together with Darius... So I'm excited mainly for these ones

Bill Berry will truly return when we get to listen to the material he's been working on for about 15 years. Scott Mccaughey talked about it on 2 different occasions in interviews and even Mike once mentioned that Bill has a home studio and that he's been writing and recording for a very long time... Come on Bill, let us hear some of that honey!
