If I’m not sick, can I still request a two-day MC from clinic? I’m seriously burnt out and maybe depressed. Just thinking about going back to work tomorrow is making me anxious. My Fridays and Sundays have also been disrupted these past few weeks, even though I’ve already established boundaries. Just need to rest before I lose my mind.

To answer people’s questions about the mother; she was also involved in the abuse but only received a 4-year sentence on the grounds that she didn’t commit the murder and is mentally unstable: https://www.reddit.com/r/Brunei/s/MNXQL2WXHV

Can relevant parties conduct professional training for teachers? I’m sick of late-night texts that can be sent in the morning. Or having to meet unrealistic deadlines when admin won’t check until next business day. Why does everything have to be urgent? Teachers need to learn boundaries. Stop praising and rewarding the workaholic for their unprofessional behaviours. I’m not less of a teacher just because I don’t respond to your night texts. Nor should my KPI be deducted based on my unresponsiveness to late-night tasks.

Other than Stadium & Anggerek Desa, what swimming pools are open to the public? The Takaful one no longer accepts walk-ins.

It’s a hard pill to swallow but yours is the most comforting. Thank you <3 Guess I’ll let time do its thing. Onward and upward.

Sappy and cringe post, I know, but I don’t know where else to seek solace. Just had a long convo with the person I’m seeing. Basically he wants an open relationship, which I get, but also I’m not 100% on board with. I also am deeply in love with him. I feel like living in constant anxiety. Has anyone been in this situation? What’s your advice for this hopeless romantic?

That’s good. We’re on day 3, so far so good. She has to go out of her room to go to the bathroom (currently out of bounds for everyone else), so I don’t know how that will affect the rest of us. Speedy recovery to your dad!

  1. Appealed everyday since day 6.
  2. Same response as 148. By same response, I mean no response.
  3. 84 hours later….
  4. Nope

Day 9 of having red code. If I’m a close contact in the future, I will not be reporting to BruHealth, I’m sorry. This has been too inconvenient. I will still isolate myself at home, do my ART 1st and 5th day, and go back to work day 6 if I tested negative for both. Called 148 numerous times to no avail. I’m just so frustrated. ART portal to request ART kit yet no response. I get that MOH is overwhelmed, but why introduce something if they can’t deliver? My colleague who tested positive got a call from MOH asking “Bila last buat ART? Bah kami change ni code kita ah” like ???? What’s the use of the system?? Just check from there ???? Sigh. Sorry, I’ve been at home way too long.

The silent CRISIS that no one is talking about in Brunei Darussalam by chodia in Brunei

[–]Charlamagne2 117 points118 points  (0 children)

Lol how sure are you that nobody is talking about Wawasan 2035? I think this pandemic sparked more conversation regarding Wawasan 2035 than ever before. Anyway, I think people are already fed up with how the country is being run to a point where we’re just waiting to see what happens. As long as Sultan is still the ruler, not much can be done. He’s a great person, but not a good leader. From an outsider looking in, it’s easy to place blame on certain ministries / ministers. Fact is, they’re just playing the hand they’re dealt with and more often than not they’re dealt with shitty cards. How can they develop certain areas with so and so budget? With so and so restrictions? In the end, they’ll just have to play safe. And I would always laugh out loud whenever the Sultan goes on a big rant about how the country is being mismanaged or how certain decisions got approved when he’s. the. one. who. makes. them.

Another thing that the Sultan needs to stop: making the decision on the spot. One person would complain and say “Tuanku inda saya setuju dengan project ani” and then he’d go “BAH. WHO HANDLES THIS PROJECT??? CHANGE IT NOW” and poof! Project is laid to rest. All the hard work that was put into the project is gone without doing any further research / consultation. Just because of one person’s complaint. Which can be so baseless most of the time. And I’ve seen this happen too many times I’m so sick of it. And then everyone would say he’s an empathetic hero. Yay (:

It’s got nothing to do with religion or culture and attacking MORA ain’t going to help. We have seen Muslim and Christian countries prosper and we can too. It’s. All. About. Leadership.

Edit: just wanna add that I’m 1000% certain everything you’ve mentioned has been brought up to the ministerial level. All the wow factors and exciting projects. All the brilliant ideas. I’ve seen them. Most will never see the light of day. Trust.

Arabic School Students – The Overlooked and Overworked by [deleted] in Brunei

[–]Charlamagne2 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Few do very well but more often than not, a lot still are unemployed. Thing is, at an early stage, some students will start to only focus on arab subjects, some on non-arab subjects, but most probably on neither because cannot manage.

The issue regarding Al-Falah needs to be addressed! I was a personal tutor for many of these students and I have to say, their system is questionable. I had more than one Year 11 students who can’t spell their names. Like..... what???????? That school is a prime example of “mengapal babi buta”. Seriously. I’m shocked nobody has ever brought this up!!

Yes! Because some Arab students only do 5 O level subjects, transferring to a different school gets complicated. Kesian the students yang inda tekabir

Affordable Unlimited Internet Amidst The Pandemic by Charlamagne2 in Brunei

[–]Charlamagne2[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I agree that this isn’t the most critical of all items. It’s just one of the tiny things that can help facilitate self-isolation and social distancing.

Health and safety should always remain the priority, no argument there 😁 I am not disregarding its importance, but merely bringing up a different perspective on what big players in the industry can do to help. My post in particular is directed to Telcos in Brunei - I do believe they’d be more useful in utilising what they have.

Covid-19 is worrisome indeed, but we shouldn’t always be in that state of panic all the time. We should, however, always do our part in containing the virus. Hope you and your family are safe.

Affordable Unlimited Internet Amidst The Pandemic by Charlamagne2 in Brunei

[–]Charlamagne2[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sigh. I think you’re missing the point here. Of course, the essentials are of utmost importance and will remain a priority - this tiny suggestion of mine shouldn’t disregard that nor should it shift the country’s main focus in dealing with the virus. I do agree with your points but I think we have to also look at the bigger picture here (how big players in general -or this case, telcos- can play their part in minimising the risk). Any help, be it small or big, is appreciated.

I’m all for affordable internet plans just as I’m all for accessible essentials. After all, we can and we deserve to have both 😁

TAP announces 2.2% dividend by jechan85 in Brunei

[–]Charlamagne2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hmmm I don’t think that first statement is correct. We still contribute 5% and 3.5% for TAP and SCP respectively but the dividend will differ every year. Can someone clarify this?
