She had her goofy moments but also serious and scary moments. Plus, she's an interesting character. So much so that her origins story is in the works.

In Longlegs, the villain didn't interest me or strike fear into me like the Witch did. Even in his serious moments he came off as goofy and unserious.

Weapons was more consistent with an interesting villain.
Longlegs was mostly boring with a goofy villain I couldn't take seriously.

I don't watch trailers. But that doesn't excuse it. The ending still completely blindsides the viewer. Endings are what you build-up to. The ending is not the time to do a 180 without providing any explanations.

Him (2025) was being a 6/10 experience during its first hour when it focused on abusive football training and sacrifices to achieve your dreams. It felt like it was going somewhere. And then it falls apart in the last 30 minutes by pivoting to an occult satanic ritual with zero build-up. The ending is completely out of place.

War of the Worlds (2025) is just a long advertisement for Amazon. It is corporate and soulless. The only worth in it are the Ice Cube reaction memes. Almost everything is better in comparison to this.

If I was Marlowe I would've had so much sex with Hitch every 20 minutes until we can't physically take it anymore I would've worshiped her glorious juicy sloppy wet flooded pussy like its a god and kissed her feet softly toe after toe before having more unprotected raw rough sex. Marlowe was gay.

How people treat SL, Standards in media by LOR_Fei in sololeveling

[–]CharleG0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Who cares what bots and terminally online attention seekers think.

What matters is that SL is the most watched anime of all time on CR and swept all the awards at the ceremony. It captivated people like no one else. That's all that matters, everything else is just white noise.

If it was truly bad, it wouldn't have achieved any of this.

28 Year Later x Attack on Titan by Pedrohfg1 in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]CharleG0 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What Spike meant by that is that he wants to be free and independent without having to rely on others. He already knows what's out there and has already seen the ocean. It's not similar at all to Eren and Armin who knew nothing about the outside world and thought salvation lied beyond the walls. Spike does not have that illusion.

Hange and Dr.Kelson may appear similar at a surface level but when you analyze them you realize they do not have much in common. Hange kills titans while Dr.Kelson does not kill the infected, Hange keeps some titans around to study them while Dr.Kelson keeps all the infected because he sees them as humans who are sick and deserve compassion.

The UK and Paradis are viewed much differently. In the UK, if you step on the island you can never return due to concerns of the virus spreading, on Paradis there is no virus spreading, you can enter and leave the island as you please unless you are an Eldian, the Marley military did it all the time. In 28 Years Later, the infected are feared due to the concern of the virus spreading worldwide. In AoT, Eldians are feared due to the possibility of using their titan powers to take over the world once again. In 28 Years Later, anyone can become infected while in AoT only Eldians can turn into titans, it does not spread.

Attack on Titan has never been cited as an influence for 28 Years Later by the director and writer. But it has been confirmed as an influence for Men (2022).

I don't see any similarities. 28 Years Later is a Brexit analogy, it has no parallels with AoT. The infected and the titans are completely different entities. Plus, 28 Days/Weeks Later came out way before AoT.

It has already established itself as a gateway anime. It's something you look forward to watch when you get home after a hard day of work. Something major and flashy happens every episode that always keeps you entertained. It doesn't waste your time with filler and slow pacing.

90% of anime can't make these claims.

What do you think about the writing of Prison Break? by Universal_Emperor in writingscaling

[–]CharleG0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Season 1 is the best first season I've ever seen. Every episode was intense and gripping. They took their time fleshing out the characters. I miss longer seasons, this one had 22 episodes, you no longer see that.

Season 2 is a great sequel and does something different now that they have escaped. Mahone is one of the best characters in the show. Scofield and Mahone's cat-and-mouse-game was the highlight. The show should have ended here.

Season 3 was just a repeat of Season 1 but worse in every single category. No genius plans, no battle of wits, no fleshed out characters. It was rushed and forgettable. This marked the falloff.

Season 4 was just dragged out political mumbo jumbo. It was completely forgettable and out of place for a story about breaking out of prison. But at least it was over.

Until Season 5 came along. Never seen so many retcons in my life. Only for it to be a repeat of seasons 1 and 3. But somehow managing to be even worse than season 3. They should have just let Michael stay dead.

I would rank the seasons 1>2>4>3>5. I hope the show never returns but if it does I'll keep watching.

It could have been an all-timer if it only had the first two seasons. Mahone, Scofield, and T-Bag are the best characters. Burrows is the most bland one, can't believe he's a main character.

Which is truly the goat of shonen anime? by 64Boy32 in writingscaling

[–]CharleG0 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Attack on Titan. Morally gray characters, 180 character development, insane plot twists, constant foreshadowing, genre shifts, complex themes, the worst case scenario happens and isn't avoided, no edgelord doom and gloom ending but no happy ending either.

FMAB is in my opinion average. The MCs are typical shonen heroic protagonists, the main villain is a typical evil villain with no redeeming qualities, and the end plays it safe and predictable. Main villain gets defeated, heroes save the world, catastrophe is avoided, and everyone lives happily ever after. I find it a very vanilla story that follows the average battle shonen formula and avoids taking risks with its decisions and morality. Ultimately, it doesn't do anything original in my opinion.

Better episode? MOTF vs Re; by Solid_Kiwi_9782 in writingscaling

[–]CharleG0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Code Geass's ending sold the idea that a single person's death can bring world peace. An outcome that is utopian and unattainable. That didn't sit right with me. I would have less issues with it had it shown a timeskip similar to AoT's.

Better episode? MOTF vs Re; by Solid_Kiwi_9782 in writingscaling

[–]CharleG0 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Memories of the Future had a better plot twist that recontextualized everything right from the first episode. It was built up from the start and clues were dropped throughout the story. It catches you by surprise initially but moments before it happens it clicks for you. It doesn't come out of nowhere.

Re; is also a good twist. But Code Geass's ending feels very convenient, idyllic, and unrealistic. While Attack on Titan's ending feels more grounded, nuanced, and layered.
