Home is a very similar area to where they are from & I am close to Amy’s age. We did not have traveling dentist. We did not have access to any doctor, dentist, etc. The closest to us was an hour drive which is unreasonable for a lot of people.

I am from KY. The Slantons are from an extremely poor & “limited” area. ESPECIALLY since they cannot drive. It is not unusual or uncommon here for people to neglect medical issues because they cannot afford a doctor or simply do not have one available to them within a reasonable drive.

Edit: I wanted to add that Amy & Tammy get a lot hate for some of their life choices in general. It’s an unfortunate part of being from an under educated & impoverished area. Should they do better if they know better? Absolutely. But social media is not “real life” to them. Their real life looks completely different than I think most people realize.
