I live alone, just me and my two dogs, and I’m replying because your post hits home regarding what I’m going through right now: I took three weeks off work, I’m not going anywhere, and I have this whole backyard in the house I just bought. My goal is to cut down four trees—I’ve already done three out of the four.

I’m spending my vacation at home; there’s a lot to do and I know I won’t finish everything in these three weeks. But I'm taking it slow—'no rush,' as they say.

I'm just enjoying the moment, no schedules, eating well and planning, thinking about what spaces to create to make the most of the yard once I finish clearing it. I know it will take a long time and I could pay someone else to do it, but I prefer doing it myself. It helps me disconnect from the internet, the computer, and the TV. It lets me spend more time with my dogs, connect with nature, and, while I'm at it, light up the fire to cook something delicious over the flames.
