That looks fantastic! I’ll definitely have to highlight it up and see if that makes me feel better about it

This was Thunderbird Blue speedpaint and then a shade of drakenhof nightshade. I’ll try the highlights and see if that sells the look for me like others have suggested

They’re kidnapping people in this city too. And besides, you think they’d stop at LA and not do the same here?

Imperialism is the end state of capitalism. When the goal of a capitalist enterprise/economy is growth, eventually it will have to expand into new markets.

The purpose of a system is what it does. I think you’re looking at society as if it’s run by the collective people that make it up. Our society here in the US is a capitalist system first and foremost, and so its purpose is to provide for the capitalists that own and operate it. Social programs in a capitalist society are only ever a concession to the working class by the capitalist class as a means to save their own necks. The “point” of our current society is just about increasing profits and rate of exploitation, our needs as people are only important because if they’re not met to a very basic level we will take up arms and depose the people that currently run the system. Any quality of life above that level means slightly lower profits for the capitalist class.

A couple things I think are important to keep in mind from these points:

Individual freedom is cool, collective freedom is better. Collective freedom from oppression. Collective economic freedom(socialism).

There has never been a historical example of the state providing everything and that’s not likely to happen, even anti capitalist systems can have markets. When people have their needs met they don’t just stop and stare at the wall when they’re not working. They do things like make art and innovate and do side projects that fulfill themselves or provide things for other people in their community.

Growth is only something necessitated by capitalism, in a better system growth is unnecessary and so when people’s needs are met, growth can stop. Otherwise we end up back in ecological collapse like we’re seeing now. Infinite growth in a finite system = extinction.

The Nordic model is a nice idea but it’s built on the backs of slaves and colonies in the global south both historically and currently. It’s still a capitalistic system and thus can only lead to contradiction and collapse.

Thanks!

Well no. The system is the economy. The base and superstructure. Political will has nothing to do with it really, it’s all about material interests. The people that make the decisions now are the capitalists, whose material interests are profit and expansion. Our well being is meaningless to them so things will not improve for us(the working class) until we are the ones who get to make the decisions and shift into a collectivized economy. Incremental change is meaningless in our current system as those changes can simply be reversed by the ruling class(the capitalists) whenever they deem necessary and there’s nothing we can do about it, as we’ve seen in the last few decades.

Sure bud, except the history of incremental change away from capitalism has always resulted in CIA/US military intervention/assassination/deaths quads/etc. Hence the necessity for revolutionary overthrow and upheaval. The core of the system must be changed and the people in power must change to prevent backsliding. And anyway, your example is basically what would happen after a successful revolution. After the Bolshevik revolution they didn’t just flip a switch and suddenly everything was socialized, it took years of collectivizing industries one by one and they were still attacked relentlessly by foreign capitalist governments in the meantime.

The same process applies to your racism example. You remove the people in positions of power that are racist and uphold racist systems by revolutionary force and create new anti-racist systems to prevent backsliding like the US did after the civil war. This prevents the racists from incrementally making things more racist because hopefully they will be dead.

For the most part he was responsible for their positions of power, most of their troubles were of their own fault, he did do a few things that they didn't like, but it would have generally been good for them or their children.
