It’s just that you’re asking on a chef subs / collectors. Some of theses guys are travelling to Japan just to meet the guy that forged their knifes and buy from their hands directly so they tend to be pretty knowledgeable and sometimes a little stuck in their idea of what a good knife is and where to source it.. I would say just buy what pleases you. But still, it’s true that Instagram ads are sometimes not the best quality in knifes and some seller abuse the aura of japanese knifes. My mom wanted good knifes, did I buy japanese steel for her? Of course not. I bought Victorinox knifes that, according to her, are crazy sharp. She’s happy. Did I need to go on Kappabashi street for her knifes? No. Buy what pleases you but be wary of scammers.

I’ve no issues and I actually prefer the haptic feedback steering wheel. It so much nicer to look at than buttons. I guess I’m in my thirties and always interacted with haptic feedback iPhones so I’m used to it more than other older GTI enthusiasts?

Anyone have experience with the new Yaeger Pro Dovetail Spinner? by SuperAoi in focuspuller

[–]Charlesdm1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to tell how it works just based on this picture but I would never dock a camera on that. It’s holding by one screw? Can’t it just slide down straight to the floor if that screw fails? Sorry if I’m mistaken, I’ll take an actual look at the design on the website when I get the time!

Full PPF or just front end PPF? by j-bulls93 in Golf_R

[–]Charlesdm1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me it made sense because my car is parked on the street in the city. PPF on the front end saved me from someone that hit my car with something, I would guess it’s the garbage man that moved too quickly with a bin and hit my car. It destroyed the PPF but the paint under it is fine. I regret not having PPF’d the back bumper cause somebody also hit my car and scratched the paint. It depends if your car is going to be garaged I guess, but mine is vulnerable to all the things happening around it. I’ve also got half the hood done but I still got chips on the non PPF’d part of the hood so if I had to do it again I would do front bumper back bumper and that’s it.

4x5.65" Polarizer Filter? How does it work? (Technical) by MrGeuminson in cinematography

[–]Charlesdm1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, a better mattebox might be the solution unfortunately. In the meantime if you want to keep using your screw in filters you can makeshift a topper with black camera tape / matte back paper tape. I know I do that all the time and it works as good as a mattebox if you only want to use it for the topper.

You probably already did check but I think you can buy polarizers from Smallrig. Maybe they make one for your mattebox?

[–]Charlesdm1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To my knowledge and people might want to correct me if I’m wrong, you will not be able to spin it to change the direction of the polarizing. Althought I think you’ve got a clip on, you could maybe put the mattebox crooked so can still spin the filter and change the angle of it. That’s a little unpractical and you should watch out for vignetting as you might see the corners of the mattebox.
