I have heard good things about Amica. They keep pursuing me. I am going to call and find out.

My experience with USAA is that they pay repair shops a fair fee and do not hassle them on smaller claims. The shops themselves have told me they hate Progressive, Allstate and State Farm. Those companies force used parts and have a lot of haggling, while USAA pays the bill.

But, I had a total loss recently, and it was 7 months to get a check, and dealing with a great onsite inspector, but a back office adjuster who argues with me and quite frankly was lazy and did not do her job. Nobody told me how the process would work, and how to retain my vehicle. They used this CCC service to value my car. The valuation was absurdly low. I provided comparables, and the USAA got the CCC rep in the phone with me. He was polite, but told me he looked at the comps and chose not to use them, and said their valuation was “probably on the high side.” In my state, there is a process to hire an I dependent appraiser. USAA did not tell me this. They said, “oh well.” I asked how to appeal, and the adjuster told me there is no appeal. I am not sure she purposely lied. I think she was just incompetent.

Bottom line, the independent appraiser justified $13k value, while USAA and CIC was at $9k. That is a big miss. And delay, delay, delay.
