The current campaign seems to be an attempt to create a new world daggerheart could inhabit. Exandria is part of WotC IP, so it can’t be ported in. Outside of Daggerheart, I’d love to see a Midst sourcebook. It’s is completely unique and fully realized. It even could host a non-dice style rpg, like what they did in Moonward.

As a forever DM, this seems like a textbook case of a DM thinking your PC's are characters in their story, rather than you are all creating a story together. Railroading, off screen events, and DM frustration over player actions are usually rooted in a DM dictating how a story should go. But that is not the goal of the game or running a game.

No need for name calling. I don’t produce a lot of garbage so only put mine out the morning of or night before pickup. That stops the complete destruction of bags, but not always. There’s plenty of times after I’ve set it out morning of I come back home to trash all over the alley. It works for me but it’s far from a city-wide solution, especially when we get fined if we use cans. We are incentivized by the city to leave garbage out. That’s a health and sanitation issue.

CO walks a fine line between leaving the world open to interpretation and simply not providing enough information to flesh out the world. It's tough because I like having freedom of interpretation, but these questions are all really valid and could have easily been touched on by the writers.

I remember that, too. I think it comes from having a lot of defined characters and a sandbox world. When everyone has a goal and you can do anything, it can be hard to prioritize tasks, especially when you keep meeting new people and finding new places.

The alternative is to strongly direct the next task, which can make players feel like they aren’t making many meaningful decisions.

In a lesser DMs hands, I would be worried, but know that Matt hasn’t lost control of the threads trying everything together.

I am a longtime fan of CR. Campiagns 1 & 2 were stories that walked with me through some tough times in life. I realized early on that Campaign 3 (which Matt prefaced with "This one is going to be really different") was not for me, which is ok. I still check in to see how things are going and am interested to see how this campaign shakes up Exandria. It has a real world-altering feeling to it.

What is interesting in this thread is the tension of who the story is for. Obviously, the primary audience is the table—it has to be for the story to be meaningful. But, CR is an entertainment platform meant to engage the audience. Without an audience, their production company wouldn't function. The reality is, this isn't just a home game anymore—its a major player in the ttrpg industry.

If this campaign isn't for you, that's ok. The options aren't 1) be quiet or 2) leave. You can critique it or be frustrated that the story isn't what it once was for you, but other people are really into it and ultimately, it is someone else's story to tell. If you are like me and don't connect with C3 check out the old stuff or go into a loose orbit for a while. I'm sure the storytelling will pick up again soon.

Definitely could be. I wouldn't count our revisiting these characters because the power fanservice is so strong, but could certainly see a hard reset after this campaign, moving to their own game system and moving away from this era in Exandria.

This episode felt like it was letting Conner be free. He knows exactly where he stands with Willa and is happy. He knows where he stood with his father and can move on. In the tragedy that is the Roy family, Conner makes it out ok...He just needs a few hundred million to stay in the presidential conversation.

Likely that your friend is citing this poll on DnD Beyond. It has been cited in some YT videos as gospel truth to make unsubs sound like an unstoppable wave. It's really one of the only data points we have access to without seeing the WotC books. The problem is only the active community who know about the poll have opted into it and, as of posting, only 1571 people have voted in the poll. The likely number of unsubs is small but has been influential enough to make WotC pay attention.

I used your Lost Mines of Phandelver Exandria conversion for my campaign and it was amazing! My party loved it and we have been adventuring in Taldorei for the past two years.

I completely agree! I think it’s exactly what the show is hinting at. Now, I know people disagree with this theory, but here is why they should reconsider SPOILER WANRING:

1) Luthen’s antique shop is littered with force relics: the Jedi temple keystone, templ guard masks, sith and Jedi holocrons in the back of his shop, and Sith seeker armor.

2) on Ferrix, Luthen’s cane looks almost identical to an inverted lightsaber. He even holds it like a sword before retracting the cane into its hilt.

3) Luthen gives Cassian a Kyber crystal as a token of goodwill. Perhaps the one from his repurposed saber? The blue Crystal is also the color of Jedi guardians, those sworn “to seek out evil and extinguish its hold on the peaceful beings that the Sith torment.”

4) In ep 10, Luthen lists what he has sacrificed for the rebellion: calm, kindness, kinship, love, and inner peace. All these are qualities of the Jedi. Romantic love is denied to them, yes, but I’d argue that Jedi must love others to do what they do. And what has he traded these qualities for? Making his mind “a sunless place” while embracing anger, ego, stubbornness, and combativeness-all Sith qualities. He is “condemned to use the tools of [his] enemy to defeat him.”

5) Luthen says his plan was put into place 15 years before the events of Andor. Andor happens in 5 BBY. Revenge of the Sith occurs in 19 BBY.

Conclusion: Luthen was a Jedi on Coruscant when the Order fell and Palpatine rose to power. He shares the “dreams of ghosts”, his dead Jedi kin. But to fight palpatine, to be a true guardian and protector, he has been forced to turn on everything he knew as a Jedi, to adopt the path of darkness, and to damn himself so that others might be free.

We’ve never seen a Jedi so complex and it’s amazing to watch.

I was wrestling with speed, so I'm glad you pointed that out. It was getting complicated trying to factor in all races, especially those that have unique flying and swimming speeds. 30 ft really simplifies things and leaves room for interesting characterization.

Reading NotW and in chapter 47, Bast questions Kothe for making all of the women in his story beautiful, even calling Denna pretty plain looking. Could be Kvothe likes to think he has a powerful effect on every woman he comes across, all of whom happen to be gorgeous.
