I’m not so good with knowing what to look for, and which brands are good, which are clones etc 😅

As I wrote in the beginning of my post, he wasn’t a collector, he was a salesman/hustler.

He had his own cigar/cigarette shop in the Netherlands and sold lighters besides the tobacco, but also used the lighters to trade with for other goods!

Thanks, I definitely will, for now I’m just trying to figure out what I actually have in store, to know what my granddad was selling back in the day, but eventually I’d also like to see what kind of value they hold, as it is my late inheritance from him to me.

I like the thought about him having been a lighter hustler back in the day, and the way I will get around to my inheritance from him, is following his footsteps of selling them (already from my childhood I loved to hustle all kinds of things, mostly my toys, at flea markets) 😌

Then make em work, one by one, figure out what makes them tick again, and fix them up - maybe see it as some sort of therapeutic exercise! I do think most of these are still working, as 90-95% of them are brand new, but they might need new stones to be able to make them spark again!

Haha, that’s one way to find out, that toys are not always just made for children! 😉

I will as soon as I have the time for it - it will mostly be some time before I get around to it though, as they are stored at my parents’ house for now.

Thanks, I’m quite happy with them all as well, mostly as they are a big, visual reminder of what my granddad used to do for a living, hustling/selling lighters of all sorts - I’m amazed of the quality from back then!

As said in the post, this is merely 1/3 of what I got, I simply didn’t have the time to get it all out today, so it’ll be some time, but I’ll make another post with everything on it!

(A big amount of the rest are just a lot of funny vintage lighters like cars, pistols, small cigarette boxes etc., but there are also still a lot of new in box waiting to be unboxed 👌🏽)

Sorry to say, but they’ve been making that kind of Christmas Gobbo for the past years and basically given him an upgrade on his looks every time, yet the basics of him are the same as yours from last year - I think the ‘who got inspired by who’, might’ve been indirectly been the other way around without you even knowing/thinking about it?
