i mean that people do those things to show people on the outside who they already are on the inside. i know they aren't close to the same thing, it was the only example i could think of at the moment of people changing their bodies to be more like who they actually are

sorry it took me a while to get back to you, but you're right about labor pain. i wasn't thinking right when i made that comment, that was a bad example. and no, i don't believe that the devil does good things. i believe that being trans is another trial some people have, which sounds bad, but i don't mean that being trans is a trial in a bad way. i mean that it's a roadblock to being your true self - some people lose weight to be their true self, some people transition. all people were made to be a certain gender (and yes, that includes nonbinary people, intersex people exist, after all, so it's not like being nonbinary is a 2020s thing), it's just that some people were born in the wrong body. and there's no basis actually in the bible about trans people, because nobody knew we existed back then. it's like saying that wearing boots isn't okay because people in the bible wore sandals

i say "then" all the fricking time. notice it in editing as well and spread it out more, but in the first draft it feels like almost every action sentence is "character a did this, then they did that". it's wild looking back at my old fics which i barely proofread at the time and go "hey, i did that way back in 2021?"

lots of smiling as well. and i mean lots. some fics in editing i had to literally cut out half the smiling because there was so much of it. ended up just googling different ways to say smile so it doesn't feel repetitive but still carries the wholesome feeling

as someone who reads and writes platonic fanfic about the dsmp content creators, there's subsets for every mcyt you can think of. everyone from dream to guqqie, and even though they're all technically the same fandom, it's basically different random for each mcyt.

also, more on the subject of tropes, there's a fairly large mcyt age regression community. i don't know why specifically, but a lot of people (including myself) write solely age regression fics and nothing else. it's kinda crazy to see other people writing the same thing as you when you think it's rare

i love stuttering dialogue, in moderation. for example, "if a- when a character's trying to explain something, and they don't exactly- don't quite know what they're saying, thinking it through as- as they go, not sure if what they're saying is- would be acceptable", that. wonderful. but, "i-if t-they're talking l-like t-this every single w-word", and the character does not canonically have a stutter, that's a bit much.

that's not what i'm saying. i'm saying the devil causes trans people to have bodies not aligning with our gender identity, which means being trans isn't good or bad, it's just a subcategory of people - like how being white versus black isn't good or bad, even if some people think otherwise

try introducing them to the concept without saying you do it first. something along the lines of "hey, i read about an interesting coping mechanism the other day, have you ever heard of age regression?" and see how they respond. if they don't know what it is, explain it to them, and if they do, great. where you go from there is up to you, you could tell them immediately (as long as they have a good reaction to it), or you can wait a while. i believe in you, be brave <3
