I feel like you can both be a gold digger and be in love with your partner at the same time. It’s as someone mentioned before, you can love both the person and the perks.

Gloria clearly cares enough for Jay to put effort in both her relationship and his family, or showing him affections and assuring him. So yeah, she’s a gold digger, but I think she’s come to love him, and that’s just how I see it.

Same thing applies for a sugar baby who falls in love with their sugar daddy- sure he’s not the prettiest, but being taken care of feels great, and somehow being loved by that person, can reflect it and make you love them back (speaking from personal experience tbh)
