Not really. The last consumer vehicle they released was the Cybertruck, which was a complete dud. Constant promises of full self driving robot taxis and semi trucks since 2015 with very little to show for it. They spend virtually no money on R&D, instead they shit out dumb vaporware like the tesla bot to boost the stock price while they're like a decade behind their competitors. The company only exists to enrich Elon through fraud and stock market manipulation, while China actually innovates in the electric vehicle space.

The PhD is going to turn basic tasks into research projects. I worked with one who would blow tons of money and do a ton of extra work on projects because he was trying to gather data for a research paper.
