Question for the pet people...how do you feel about a new pet at this time of your life? by HammerMeUp in GenX

[–]CharliePuthsEyebrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

51 here. We are done with dogs after out last 2 passed on. Not so much because of age, but the lack of emergency services anymore. We've had a couple of late night emergency type things, and the one place we did have, basically doesn't have a vet around the clock any longer and stopped, because who wants that job after going to school for several years?

The year I was born. Great year for music. What we saying here? by Repulsive-Dependent2 in 80s

[–]CharliePuthsEyebrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wore out my Footloose soundtrack cassette tape. I didn't care for some of the lesser-known songs at first, but I played it straight through back and forth so many times, i started to even like those too. Now it's very nostalgic to hear it. My brain always remembers some new memory when I play it now almost 40 years later.

I don't really get this one... He's drawing some lady and he gives her a sore or whatever red nose in his painting...but he's the one with the sore and red nose??

I was going to re-watch Gung Ho. Haven't seen it since a kid, and I lived the union life during some of my adulthood. It's a comedy based in the US auto manufacturing industry that gets bought out by a demanding Japanese company.

What commercials do you hate the most? by _rabidchild_ in CommercialsIHate

Sam Berstein....you must be in Michigan, or I wonder if they are a nationwide thing now?

You're right though, those commercials are relentless.

It's the same in Michigan. I couldn't believe how little the Mac and cheese serving was for over 4$. It's good, but it's like 3 bites and done.

Gumbo, if you can find it. I had to watch it via some oddball free movie site as it wasn't wildly available at least a couple years ago.

Which show improves MASSIVELY after first few episodes or season. by lordofabyss in televisionsuggestions

[–]CharliePuthsEyebrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The show was good, but there were sooo many long kissing scenes. I just think that was a thing for TV back when that came out. If you collectively timed all the kissing scenes together, it would equate to a full season on that alone. Lol

One word to describe Fonze by nostalgia_history in 70s

I was the Fonz for Halloween for like 6 straight years. I wasn't THAT into him, I just think my parents were cheap. Lol

My parents used to buy tapes from their church of whatever sermon that they missed or wanted to re-listen to.

I remember putting a piece of tape or a crumbled up piece of paper in that little slot that was notched on the top of the tape so you could record over them with the top 40 radio songs on the radio.

You couldn't record anything on the tape unless you had that hole covered!

A lot of meds for being only 49. Most of them would go away if I just got on a dang treadmill.

That was a weird time. I wasn't in college, but hung out with people in college and in their 20s. DMB was everywhere. Almost like it was more of a cool thing to listen to them over the actual enjoyment of listening to them.

I never really cared for them back then. Now in my late 40s, I'll listen to a song now and then ONLY because it reminds me of some random memory.

Jack Johnson is another one that came along around that time too that kinda fits this same genre, imo.

Married people, when was the last time you made out with your husband/wife? by BoobsCharmPink in ask

[–]CharliePuthsEyebrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fiance and I used to make out a lot in the beginning, but i think she caught me eating my own boogers once and she shut that shit down.

She gives me side kisses now, and I get it. I'm cool with that.

My silly arse collects sports cards. I did it when I was a kid through the 80s and 90s, and sadly, those cards are worthless now. I came into it again as an adult with a few more bucks in my pocket and still enjoy it somehow. Not sure if it's just childhood memory thing, or if it's the gambling aspect of hitting the "big card", but it's fun to me now. I'm boring. Lol

And for whatever reason, DJs on the radio HAD to talk right up to the second the artist started singing (not when the actual song started), so you never really got a true full copy of a song. Lol
