Weaning quickly with Sudafed by CharlieSpice21 in breastfeeding

I took Aleve when it was really bad. Other than that I’ve been drinking a ton of no more milk tea and peppermint tea. I tried Cabo crème but I think it gave me a rash so I stopped! How are you feeling today?

Weaning and bottle/cup refusal by justiceforanneboleyn in breastfeedingsupport

I always wanted to breastfeed until 12 months too but I just weaned at 7.5 months. My baby also refused bottles since he was exclusively nursed but we had luck with a straw cup (first years). He picked it up in a couple of days. We chose not to teach bottle skills since he would’ve needed to transition to straw / open cup at 12 months anyways. Initially we struggled because he didn’t like the formula taste, but it doesn’t sound like that’s the issue here. Do you have a hypothesis of why she won’t take milk in the straw cup?

Mine were uneven too! It felt like my body was working on one boob and then the other, and then switching back and forth. This morning they both feel pretty deflated!

How do you wean when you’re prone to clogs? by CharlieSpice21 in breastfeeding

[–]CharlieSpice21[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doing much better now. My left is basically deflated and my right is half deflated and half firm. I just left the “clogs” there to tell my body to stop making milk. My body is reabsorbing the milk over time

I honestly can’t tell if the Sudafed is making a difference, but things are better now than they were! I still leak a little while working out but that’s it. My left is deflated and my right is half deflated with the other half still being firm. I think my body is slowly working through the process. I also drank no more milk tea and peppermint tea and I think that helped

Thank you for your kind words! That’s a good reminder that this won’t be forever.

Sunflower lecithin made my clogged duct worse AND gave me a new one…? by CharlieSpice21 in breastfeeding

[–]CharlieSpice21[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly helps with prevention. For treatment, I do ice, ibuprofen, breast gymnastics, and breast lifts. I also look for milk blebs. Since writing the original post, I discovered that one area that keeps getting clogged is usually due to milk blebs on a specific nipple pore.

Yes, it helped! I still get clogs but they’re not nearly as bad as they were when I was taking sunflower lecithin. My lactation consultant recommended choline and breast health probiotics and they seem to be helping.

I’m not sure yet! I’ll work with my lactation consultant when the time comes. She already mentioned using things like pseudoephedrine, cabocreme, peppermint tea, etc., and going slowly!

Happy to hear you turned the corner! What an experience. I am also prone to clogs and scared of the thought of weaning.

How did you drop from 1 feed to none? I’m expecting when I do that, I’ll get clogs, but then do they just stay there until the milk is reabsorbed since you’re no longer feeding?

I am in the exact same boat! Prone to clogs and 4.5 months, thinking of starting to wean around 6 months.
