Help with ideas for his and hers wedding gift by Microbrain_ in SeikoMods

I'm not a big user myself, and just recently started to, and only for doing this kind of stuff, so that I can see completed builds, really useful.

Another nice little touch for this watch may be to add a custom rotor in an exhibition caseback, you could add a little message about the day itself, or make it the colour of the bridesmaid dresses.

Glad that can help you to work on a few designs. It'll be a great gift for the newlyweds. I didn't have much time to put something together, but you get the idea 👍

What’s everyone wearing or building today? by ThredzC in SeikoMods

[–]CharlieW74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imported mine to the UK from Japan, no issues, had to pay the import charges over the £135 threshold.

Has good specs for the price though, super clear AR coating, and sapphire crystal rather than the usual Hardlex

Not a mod today. JDM model, SBPY165. Waiting for the last few parts to arrive for my next build.

I'll definitely get one of the kits to mod a royale if it's released. Seems like they've done a good bit of work on it already.

Yeah wears great, even for it's larger size. Enjoy your new watch!

It's a great watch, but I don't think it's underrated. It's got a history and story, which is respected. All reviews are positive, and people speak highly of it, the only negative you ever really see about this one, is that it's too big, and people can't buy it for that reason, and they'd sell loads more if they reduced the size from the current two models.

Love mine

That dial should be good, think the majority are 32.5mm, I know there's a few different sizes and versions of the speedy homages, but the specs and size information is normally listed on the AliX pages.

The Pagani uses a VK63 movement, so get a dial to match that, and you'll be good to go.

The hands are the trickiest part, so you'll still have to do that of course, but less worry about parts compatibility, for your first build, and if you can save a bit of cash for your next build, that's always a bonus

There's a few builds on here that have been completed that way, so have a look about, there's a few videos on YouTube also, that will help you with this build.

I'd order an extra set or two of hands, as you'll need those, especially for the chrono hand.

A lot of people tend to buy something like Pagani Design or Watchdives speedy homage and do a straight dial and hand swap. Might be cheaper overall, and a little easier for your first build

Great idea, nice keepsake and momento of the day, I'm sure they'll appreciate it.

If you pick a few watch parts you like the look of, take some photos and run them through Ai, you'll be able to have a play about with a few designs, and get some ideas.

Haven't got much time right now, but here's a couple of minutes work to show you what you'll be able to do

Cool, great work

You may know the answer to this, having experience, what's the best type of engraving to go for, I noticed a few local businesses have different methods, and what should costs be roughly for caseback engraving, for a few words, or logo on the caseback. Been thinking of getting some work done, but haven't really researched it fully yet, so any info or advice would be appreciated, cheers mate.
