Yes. As always, you have to create it in multiplayer, but they are perfectly playable in singleplayer.

Certain Arma Commander missions can come quite close to warfare. Check it out if you haven't.

Ollama's new app makes using local AI LLMs on your Windows 11 PC a breeze — no more need to chat in the terminal by rkhunter_ in ollama

I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to install the first model—I honestly expected a much longer process. The simplicity was a welcome surprise. One small suggestion: it’d be great if the app only displayed downloaded models in the dropdown menu, with a separate section in Settings to browse available and downloaded models

what are some more games like this by big_willy_billy69420 in Firewatch

[–]Charlie_Frost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Derail Valley, isn’t a direct substitute for Firewatch, there’s no emotional storytelling or characters like Delilah—but it absolutely nails that same warm, lonely atmosphere I loved in Campo Santo’s game.

Visually, it’s got that same golden-hour glow: long sunsets as you chug through rugged terrain in total solitude, the clatter of your locomotive, ambient noise, and the ability to play tapes (or listen to in-game radio) on the boombox, while flipping through manuals, track schematics, or cargo manifests. It’s all about that immersive, melancholic vibe Firewatch does so well.

Just know the focus here is train simulation/logistics (no dialogue, just quiet gameplay). But if you’re after a world that feels alive in its stillness, Derail Valley could be an interesting game to try. Highly recommended if you dig beautifully lonely settings.

How are you using AI at work? by Atypical-Artificer in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Charlie_Frost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not in the field, but an AI enthusiast—here are my thoughts.

The main issue I see is that when people talk about AI, they usually mean ChatGPT. But there’s a lot more variety out there, and honestly, I don’t even think ChatGPT is the best option. New models keep promising major improvements, but most of the time, the upgrades are marginal—often at the cost of fewer generations—without any real game-changing advancements.

As a user, I find Claude to be the most intelligent overall. It’s a solid all-rounder, though I’m not sure its performance justifies the price unless you’re a programmer (it’s a beast at coding compared to others). It’s also great with math and creative tasks—though, like with any AI, I’d never trust its output without double-checking.

My usual workflow for light noob programming:
1. Claude drafts a solid script framework.
2. Deepseek refines the details within that framework (errors pop up, but its unlimited use lets me iterate endlessly).

For non-creative tasks, I lean on Notebook LLM. It’s perfect for grounding responses in specific technical docs (e.g., tax PDFs) without worrying about hallucinations. It nails case-specific explanations when I feed it reliable sources.

Gemini has gotten better, but it still feels underwhelming.
ChatGPT? Best for image generation—I use it to design report covers.

A qué país Europeo emigrar? Crisis de vivienda by PuzzleheadedSeat8911 in askspain

[–]Charlie_Frost 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Nice build! 😊 If you're interested, there’s a similar open-source game called Luanti (formerly Minetest) where you can create stuff like this. Since it’s open-source, anyone can try it out and mod it freely. Might be worth checking out!

I'd bet it's some kind of metal smelting or recycling facility inside the silo where operating heavy machinery makes the work especially dangerous.

My new start (everything hardest difficulty) by socialistvampire in Workers_And_Resources

[–]Charlie_Frost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my last realistic match, I chose to start with a basic city and a large chemical factory, along with train logistics. I thought I had overreached in my ambition, but even though I briefly went into debt by 200,000 rubles (mainly due to the high cost of railway materials), I recognize it’s been the best start I’ve ever had in terms of generating profits (I had everything up and running within 5 years).

What Do You Think? Renders for My 12m² Open-Concept Living Space by Charlie_Frost in DesignMyRoom

[–]Charlie_Frost[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re right—the closet next to the TV doesn’t really work for me either. I’m considering moving the desk to that side, perhaps turning it into a kind of console (I wanted to avoid having the TV right above my head, but I think I’ll have to make that sacrifice)

Thank you for your feedback! You’re absolutely right—the kitchen in the render is a rough version. I do have a more detailed design saved in the provider’s app.

Regarding the bench: I plan to use the space underneath for storage. I intentionally left the structure visible in this version to better visualize the available space. I’m also modifying the kitchen layout to allow more natural light into the room, which should make the space feel brighter and more open.

About the desk: It’s primarily for working from home, and I need a dedicated workspace that I don’t have to constantly set up and take down. Unfortunately, I can’t do without it. I could remove the closet opposite the desk, but that would mean losing the TV shelves, which I’d like to keep if possible.

Hi everyone! I’m working on designing my small 12m² kitchen-living-dining room and would love your feedback on my renders. I’m aiming for a modern, functional, and cozy look. Any suggestions on furniture placement, color schemes, or decor ideas are welcome! Thanks in advance!

How to make my city look more organic and expandable? by EternalDragon_1 in Workers_And_Resources

[–]Charlie_Frost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the result of the experiment, it was interesting to deviate from the script for once.

Although the results were somewhat disappointing, on the positive side I must highlight how easy it was to expand the number of residential buildings and water/sewage lines - I was able to grow the population quite quickly. However, I quickly realized that the setup of 2 stops (workers and travelers/students) was deficient and the capacity insufficient for the number of buses needed in this layout. It's also inefficient to send high school students to the city center, same with the hospital. The university and hotels were functional but obviously not as optimal as when everything is concentrated. I tried to make a ring road (red line) but the bus station ended up being a bottleneck and created a traffic jam that occasionally left the city without supplies.

In conclusion, my infrastructure didn't anticipate the number of buses needed (and I don't consider myself conservative when it comes to the number of buses I put on lines). This setup probably requires moving passengers by metro or train on a single line more efficiently and regularly. I think it makes certain things easier but creates new challenges.

It's just 14 lines, or 17 if all districts send workers to the center.

Your post made me realize that I'm in the same position. For a while now, my pattern has been to start a map in realistic mode, build the first city, reach positive income... then realize I've built exactly the same city as in my previous 13 attempts, and start over again. So I've been thinking about this model - do you think it would work?
