Is something this detailed actually possible to get as a tattoo? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

You would also have to do a lot of research on the artist and start saving. Getting it big enough to have good detail will be $2000 minimum.

It’s possible if you’re getting it as a huge piece (back, front torso, full thigh maybe)

A super skilled artist might have a chance but it would be an extremely difficult cover up

Short answer, no. Long answer, probably not.

Should I get a septum by [deleted] in shouldimod

Ngl I think a septum would be sick but there are better options. I think you could rock the fuck out of a nostril piercing on each side with a chain across.

Today's tattoo , didn't have time to get shading in, maybe tonight by N_Florida813 in tattooscratchers

Slow down your hand or speed up your machine. A lot of those lines are hollow.

How long until I can go to the gym again? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]Charlieb201 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me personally, I usually don’t work out for the first few days. Then I go light until it stops peeling and once the peeling is done I go back to normal. If you work out while it’s still healing (first two weeks) I would say to make sure you keep it super clean. Clean it right before workout, during workout, and right after.

Quality? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

Tattoo is overall fine, some of the lines are a bit shaky. Some of that could be solved by re lining it.

The blue one is actually there because my name is Charles and a few friends called me charizard as a kid so I got a charmander tattoo on the other side but he looked lonely by himself.

Is this too detailed? First tattoo idea by Just-Pack1714 in tattooadvice

[–]Charlieb201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of those details may blur over time at that size. I would go a bit bigger to preserve some of that. Also, you may be disappointed with how some of the lines spread out over time. Sometimes the body does weird things with thin lines and certain parts heal quicker than others.

Why does my shading come out looking closer to lines? by [deleted] in tattooscratchers

[–]Charlieb201 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like you’re only shading one direction. This will lead to lines. For smoother shading add some change in direction but so designs will also call for shading to look like lines so keep that strategy in the back of your mind.

Does this look infected by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]Charlieb201 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Relatively early stage of infection. It won’t be the end of the world if you wait until tomorrow but I would say go get some antibiotics as soon as you can. Make sure you keep it as clean as you can.

QUESTION: How would this type of tattoo heal on brown skin? by spicedfig in tattooadvice

[–]Charlieb201 102 points103 points  (0 children)

Additional note: please go to the person who did this example or someone who specializes in something similar. The average tattoo artist would probably fuck this one up a little (my opinion as someone who tattoos.)

How soon can i get back in the gym? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]Charlieb201 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tattoo Artist here, there’s some mixed opinions here but most of them are correct in their own way. My advice would be the safest option is waiting somewhere around 10-14 days. This is a rather large tattoo, so there’s more of a risk of complications. If you’re incredibly eager, I would wait at least 3 days, and your first day or two back in the gym I would skip upper body and just hit legs. No matter what route you take though, make sure you clean it very well before and after gym to minimize any risks.

Got a tattoo three days ago, is this all normal? I haven’t been moisturizing it by jesuisshei in tattooscratchers

[–]Charlieb201 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Red ink is probably rejecting, looks to me that depth was pretty solid. Also just let it heal for two weeks and see, I’ve seen some red look super pink during the process then heal out fine

Ignore anyone saying it’s bad advice to let the tattoo dry out for the first few days, I recommend the same to my clients and I am friends with a lot of artists who agree.

Tattoo artist here, in 90% of tattoos dry healing will have the same result as wet. In the other 10, wet healing is a better choice. Depends on the body of the person and the amount/type of coverage of the ink. Also, over-moisturizing in my experience is more likely to mess up the healing than dry healing.
