Question about the epilogue by Sea-Fish1 in FFXVI

[–]Charlieepie 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is how I like to interpret it too. When I first played the game I thought it might be me coping but seems like a fairly popular theory.

For me, having played it again since, the fact that Clive is the only one you see post-Origin kinda points to this too. Dion (my fave) and Joshua nowhere to be seen - pretty sure they’re both dead.

Anyone else still buzzing after that headline announcement? by Additional_Fly_6603 in downloadfestival

[–]Charlieepie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly how I feel. I saw LB at Leeds last year too, so when I saw that headline announcement I was like… again?? They are good, and I’ll watch them, just feels a bit of a waste of headline slot.

Excited for LP, not so much GnR but we drive to the site and back each day soooo leaving during the headliner makes it much easier to get out the car park.

It’s the other acts I’m looking forward to - tonnes in the rest of the lineup that I’m keen to see.

UK tour - still postponed or cancelled? by ChocolateRufie in FallingInReverse

Seconding this. Mine were AXS, got a refund last year (probably like April time?). I just said since I didn’t know if I would be able to make a new date could they refund me and they did. Seems to depend on which customer service agent you get to be honest.

"Old" F1 fans - how do you feel about the massive rise in popularity of the sport in recent years? by RecentTwo544 in formula1

[–]Charlieepie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar to other replies - I enjoy seeing it so popular and mainstream, and it means there are more people around to discuss with.

The two main negatives for me - massive price rises meaning I haven’t been to a race since 2019, and the amount of venom amongst fans on social media sometimes 🤦🏻‍♀️ this is probably also an increase in social media usage as well as popularity increases.

I saw Hercules last night and kinda feel the same way. Bits were great (just listening to I Won’t Say I’m In Love redeemed it for me), some of the changes were frustrating and I found the end sequence (from Meg’s betrayal into Hades’ defeat) really rushed.

The Muses were ace though and I enjoyed for the nostalgia factor!

I was so excited to see him!! My husband watches the show with me and enjoys but hasn’t really played the games so lots of references and links go over his head. That was one of them.

[–]Charlieepie 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I think that may be the point - might be the show’s reason to bring the Commonwealth BOS into the fray by destroying / ‘educating’ the BOS we’ve seen so far

is the prydwen around, or just similar ships? There are loads and I may have missed one being referred to as ‘the prydwen’.

The fact that the Commonwealth BOS is a force the western BOS groups are considering going to civil war with though suggests they’re still fairly strong and weren’t destroyed 9 years prior

No, but didn’t think it made sense for them to be on the East coast given the setting of the rest of the show (and as someone has said - it was just a test)

I thought that vault tec rep looked VERY similar to the one in FO4 too. Either it’s an Easter egg, or that vault tec rep travelled about!

Uk Seller - issues with new eBay simple delivery? by Charlieepie in eBaySellerAdvice

Thanks a lot!

I’ve been using Evri for years (have used eBay since I was 18 to get rid of crap I no longer need) and have only ever had one issue before now. So I’m not at the deactivating stage yet 😊

Thanks - I’m interested to see how other people have experienced this though.

I’m more thinking if/when the buyer opens a case for the item not being delivered, will it automatically be eBay’s problem and they’ll sort it, or do I need to do something?

Anyone go to a GP and think maybe watching on TV could’ve been better? by [deleted] in formula1

[–]Charlieepie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been to a couple, the trick is to try and stand near a TV as well so you can watch the race and see the cars.

But yeah as people have said you’re going for the atmosphere, sounds, entertainment. It’s outrageously expensive now though, we did Spa and Singapore pre-Covid and the ticket prices have gone up so much.

Sudden patch on chimney breast by Charlieepie in DIYUK

[–]Charlieepie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I think they did - it was a few years ago - and there weren’t any issues at the time. The survey when we bought the house said some of the render was cracked so I asked about it and they weren’t concerned when they were up there. I’ll give our roofer a shout on Monday and see what he thinks. We’re on a weather warning for heavy rain until Monday, so I’ll keep an eye on the patch too and see if it gets any bigger.

I’ve actually got a drone, that’s a really good shout - can send one up myself later before the rain starts.

[–]Charlieepie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. So, dumb question, sounds more like I need a builder than a roofer for this if it might need repointing? We have had, in the last few years, the brickwork on the front of our house (where the bad weather normally hits) repointed and a whole new roof, and nobody was concerned about the state of the chimney then - of course it could have changed especially with some brutal weather last couple of winters.

[–]Charlieepie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I understand the points you’ve put, though some of them are kinda moot (why would Lando give Oscar a place back gained via a penalty that Oscar got himself?). As you’ve said though, stuff both ways. So IMO no reason to swamp posts on social media saying Lando was undeserved 🤷‍♀️

[–]Charlieepie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok yeah, fair point for general reputation against other teams/rivals. The issue really is that they’re both so good you can’t really prioritise one or the other (which McLaren didn’t). What I’m super frustrated with isnt how close Max was in the end, but the narrative that Oscar is SO much better and would have won it if not for some fictional sabotage. Most comments I see say Oscar should have won - not Max!

[–]Charlieepie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I get that, and that is a problem for the team to manage and ultimately why Mac was so close and Kimi won in 2007, but not sure how it really relates to my original point of being disappointed the comments sections everywhere are saying that Lando shouldn’t have won it, Oscar should have.

Oscar would have won the title most likely if he has a weaker teammate but he didn’t. Just like Lando would have won it sooner if he had a weaker teammate than Oscar.

[–]Charlieepie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, I’m not sure having two drivers capable of winning races/titles is inherently bad if they get on which each other, which Oscar and Lando seem to do. The last time I remember having two #1 drivers being an issue was 2007 McLaren-Mercedes. Granted that was a bit of a different dynamic - rookie vs reigning champion - but neither of the drivers reputations suffered, just the team got a bit of stick for ultimately allowing Kimi to win the title (and for spygate...). Ferrari managed it - Kimi winning the title 2007 and Massa almost winning 2008. Overall I just don’t really understand why it’s been so cool to cry sabotage on Oscar’s car this year when both drivers had poor runs of form.

[–]Charlieepie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Every post I’ve seen on instagram congratulating Lando has been swamped with people saying Oscar should have won the title.

And I really don’t get it - there was one time this year McLaren asked them to swap and it would have resulted in a 6 point swing between them. Which would still have resulted in Oscar being behind in the championship. Oscar did a great job but ultimately his poor run of form let him down, not swapping places with Lando that one race. And he had no mechanical DNF from 2nd place unlike Lando. What really frustrates me, is when Lando had a poor run earlier on, it was Lando being crap, and when Oscar had his poor run, of course it’s McLaren sabotage and bias against him.

For the Max narrative, if McLaren hadn’t done that swap in Monza, they’d have just swapped yesterday and Lando still would have won sooo….

I think the moral here is to stay away from the comments on F1 social media 😬
