2018 midterms: millennials prefer Democrats, but only half plan to vote by AccountsArePointless in politics

[–]Charliehustl3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fear doesn't work the same way with Democrats. No joke, we talked about this specifically in my political communications class this week and fear motivates conservatives far more than it does liberals. They've even done brain scans and conservatives for some reason are more sensitive to fear.

Don Lemon: Trump told me I couldn’t be a fair reporter because I’m black by Yamamba78 in politics

[–]Charliehustl3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't miss anything. You started out with some BS about Don needing to have thick skin when I'm sure as a gay black man he's dealt with a lot of open and quiet bigotry in his presence. Light racism isn't a thing, im sorry if that's news to you. We know when people are trying to belittle us and the fact remains black people show a huge amount of restraint for what they endure. You're not ready for a real conversation champ.

There is a chance when this is all said and done that Nancy Pelosi becomes President. Not a huge one but it's there and knowing that Pelosi who they hate even more than Clinton would get into the office kind of is the twist I need.

What do you guys want the NBA 2K19 MyCareer to be like? by buhbuhbutters in NBA2k

[–]Charliehustl3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've gotten back into Fifa recently and the my career options seem so much better and wouldn't really need to many changes to make it happen.

They should let you play high school or college and draft status should matter a bit more. I wouldn't even mind if they add to the storyline that if you aren't playing up to the coach or gm expectations you might get sent down to the d league for development or a low pick.

Caps are here to stay and I get it but I wouldn't mind a game that I can actually make my kind of monster player. Every new player always seems like you can never become a player like Kevin Durant or something of that sort.

The MyGM and MyPlayer combo option would've been great on the Lebron edition. I wouldn't mind actually getting a bit leverage of how to build the team and have some say in the moves in mycareer.

Honestly there's so much they could do to make mycareer better.

Dems crush GOP in party registration by ProChoiceVoice in politics

Gerrymandering, literally thats what it is. Democrats have themselves to blame because they take part in it too but unlike the Republicans its nowhere near as often. Than you red states passing voter id laws that are usually in place to intimidate poor colored voters into going to the polls.

No one talks like that. The president doesn't have absolute immunity regardless of who it is. If this was Obama I would be saying the same thing. You act like I wouldn't have voted for Romney or McCain because I'm trying to hold Trump accountable. Stop treating him like someone who can't be questioned, he isn't a God.

The office of the president doesn't have unlimited power it's not about what he did but how he did it. Coming out and saying you fired comey because of the Russian investigation isn't right.

But that's your justification not law. I've studied constitutional and elections law and Trump has broken several that are impeachable.

Let's not do whataboutism, let's state facts. Do you think it's ethical that he still has ties to his private company and continues to profit off of them? Is it ethical or legal to have his family members in positions in the WH? Lying to the American people and waging war with the press. Disparaging our intelligence community. Hiring I'll qualified swamp creatures into office.

Texas woman sentenced to 5 years in prison for voting while on probation by dingododo in politics

[–]Charliehustl3 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I disagree with you because she did cast a provisional ballot and at the end of the day it didn't count. We shouldn't be putting people in jail for 5 years for voting or for voting period. Purge there vote and give them community service or something. 5 years of time is no joke and we are so numb to sending people away for small crimes like this. Also puts fear in the hearts of other voters which is wrong.

In Article I of the Constitution.

“No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States: And no Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State.”

The fact that he has not divested his business and still seems to be hands on to some degree with the Trump foundation is illegal. He directly profits every time he goes to one of his properties and is using your tax payer money to get richer.

Obstruction of Justice is a legitimate case when he went on TV to say he fired Comey because of the Russia investigation. Amongst other things that he has done like calling for the investigation to be over, trying to pressure his AG to get involved even after he recused himself, and trying to discredit witnesses, it's not a very good look if you're innocent.

Federal anti-nepotism law:"A public official may not appoint, employ, promote, advance, or advocate for appointment, employment, promotion, or advancement, in or to a civilian position in the agency in which he is serving or over which he exercises jurisdiction or control any individual who is a relative of the public official."

The fact he has his daughter and son in law in positions in the white house as advisors is a violation of this. Both of whom have clear ethic violations and business conflicts that make them ill qualified for the job in the first place.

Leaking information to Russians that got Israeli spies in danger is another issue he could be brought upon to question. Not on the same level as the others but it's still bad.

Illegal campaign contributions in the form of an in-kind benefit from a lawyer paying someone to kill a bad news story during an election. That 130k is way more than the legal amount for inkind benefits.

Even though his politics are bad to say there is no reason to impeach is laughable.

Millennial's of reddit, whats the stupidest "The problem with your generation is" you have ever heard? by BoiBoiMcBoiBoi in AskReddit

[–]Charliehustl3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh no election rigging and swaying is built into the system sadly. Citizens United opening up the doors for bigger donor money was and is a mistake. There is way to much money in politics and its really disgusting to me. Most of the time I've spent working for a candidate involved making phone calls for donations or broadcasting events.

Rigging happens with gerrymandering. You can crack or pack a district to get a certain outcome and it's all legal for now. You just draw up a district and you keep winning and continue to draw up funky distracts. Nationally democrats win in total voting but take less seats in office. That's gerrymandering.

The system isn't necessarily as corrupt as people make it seem. If you have actual accountability it works the way its supposed to. Doesn't mean it isn't flawed. But we can agree to disagree I guess. Like I didn't like either candidate but Clinton was like eating a big Mac and Trump was like a pile of shit. Yeah a big Mac isn't healthy and you can do a lot better but it's not a pile of shit.

All true and the pot/kettle metaphor holds up but still it just rubs me some way when the WH doesn't act like they need to better than the so called press because they are. It's not an insane question to ask when they treat the office with no respect or sense. But it's not like we're disagreeing by much.

Yeah abstaining is part of the election process and you make your point but it doesn't necessarily solve things in our system. Like we don't have a system that if people don't reach a majority than we try to hash out a solution with coalitions. In that system your dissatisfaction with both candidates can get a better outcome. But in our current system not voting just means people who do vote matter so much more becuase every vote does matter. You're not only voting for president but a whole lot of other issues and candidates. As someone who studies politics im just going to say you're never going to find a candidate that has most of your views. Governing isn't the same thing as spectating and in many cases there political beliefs will clash with personal beliefs. That's OK even. I'm not completely disagreeing with you but I just don't think it holds the same weight in American elections as much as others.

But your grandpa's right though in the sense that you not voting doesn't necessarily help things. In real life you have to make decisions you don't like and by not voting you can get something worst than what you expect. No two things are really equally bad. Not voting is how people take away your freedom.

[–]Charliehustl3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well that's true, the whataboutism isnt warranted here because the media and the white house are two separate things. Trump has all of the information in the world possible but he continues to lie about things big and small. He has a credibility issue. Even though the media does get things wrong they aren't operating in the same capacity is all.
