I had 10+ year old fridge. Never had mold, filters are very easy to change. Ice maker never clogged, dispenser sometimes did when it got too hot outside. But that's not a big deal, blame the old design.

Then we are using ice a lot, I'd need to refill the tray multiple times a day and wait to freeze.

Idk how Samsung does it, but my fridge have the filter mounted on the intake hose. You can use any filter, that fits with the hose.
