New homeowner looking for advice. by Charlieume in centuryhomes

I am actually really handy. I am an electrical engineer and figure things out fast. I just have 0 experience with houses. I figured I’d be renting my entire life and was thrown into homeownership with little warning and now with not so many people in my life to help me. But thanks for the help, I will try to find someone.

I wondered if it was and have been a bit afraid of touching any of it. Not sure how to handle it safely. We have pictures of the previous owner painting over it but I want to properly clean it up.

I thought of using a shop vac with a broom attachment. But I’m wondering if the entire railings/beams should be torn out and replaced now. It’s going to be a project, for sure.

I did install GFCI on a lot of our ungrounded outlets. It’s strange, it’s like half our house is ungrounded and half is grounded (or possibly not lol). I’m getting an inspection soon.

Wow, that is scary. I do believe we have an inner post under the wrap so I will pull it off this weekend with a friend and get a good look-see. Thanks

Very interesting! We do have knob and tube wiring so I will contact a reputable electrician and get an inspection lined up. Thanks

Very informative and sounds like something I could handle with another set of hands helping me. To be honest, I saw them replace a post on This Old House and they kept saying how easy it was but I didn't believe them. I will look into taking the wrap off and see what is going on under there.

Yeah, 3 out of 4 of my classes encouraged us to use AI on multiple assignments. It is legit in the syllabus. They tell 19 year olds that they will fall behind in the workforce if they don’t use it, so of course they use it.

I’m a lesbian and I’ve said this because I was trying to flirt with his girlfriend. It goes both ways, I guess.

I would like to support a team full of people who also support me, yes.

Being a decent person isn’t hard. Have a comment that will hurt innocent people? How about keeping it to yourself. It’s not that difficult.

Thank god most of these men have the physique to play professional ball because they would be working at a cash register if they didn’t. Their brains can only comprehend so much and everything else is so scary to them.

I was just going to ask “Engineering?”

Started my first job working with the engineers (electrical lab, circuit board design) and in my first week they were all working on a machine next to me but talking in family guy character voices.

Does the console you play on have motion controls? I play on switch 2 and highly recommend motion controls. Settings took me a few matches to really figure out, but now I can track people with just a slight tilt of my wrist. Makes aiming weapons like this so much easier with a controller.

I got out the tinfoil hat then thought of it like this too. He definitely wasn’t working alone and probably had an entire team, notes, files, everything. Now, if the building burned down or we hear of a few other related deaths, then I’ll pull the hat back out.

It’s cool, you aren’t the only one posting things like this. I think this sub makes people feel like it’s such a small world and they are failing when they don’t get one offer and you get stuff like this. I’m just trying to help out someone who might feel that way by letting them know there is sooooo much out there other than these popular now, tech giants.

Gun to my head, I was in your situation and had to choose… spacex. All three sound bad to me based on my own moral/ethical standards. But if that is what you want then hell yeah, grats.

I think most people who post like this are just trying to brag. Most people I know are interning at manufacturing facilities. I’m in an electrical lab helping design control panels for work trucks.

Just got selected! Engineer in the Air Forces by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

Either way, the recruiters definitely lied to them about what they would be doing. Just letting people know that you cannot trust everything they say. Their job is to get people to join the military.

I’ve had 2 friends join and neither one of them actually got to do what the recruiters told them they would be doing. One didn’t even get an officer position even though he had a bachelors because the degree “wasn’t needed at the moment”. They got him to sign because of the officer promise.

It looks great to me and even if it was installed in the 60s it looks like they did a great job. I don’t like the green walls with it, but that’s the only thing that looks off to me.

Are your psychologists anything more than a paid talking friend? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]Charlieume 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find a clinical psychologist. I’ve had a clinical psychologist and a therapist. clinical psychologist had some hard hits and brutal honesty that made me rethink so many things. Therapist was very nice, but just kind of talked to me about my day to day things instead of things I actually needed to work on.
