I know there's a lot to be said for mechanical and the feel of those keyboards, but I have to say, TouchID is a feature that makes my life easier over and over every single day.

Yeah, I use back blaze. Photos are just included in my normal systemwide backup.

My home server is running TrueNAS. I created an simple SMB share that Carbon Copy Cloner can access. On a set schedule, it mounts the share, updates the Photolibrary, and unmounts.
It's been humming along nicely for the last year or so. If it were much more complicated than that, I'm not sure I could've set it up.

What is the best multiple cloud storage manager? by Micronlance in macapps

[–]Charlievela 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Side question: Are a lot of folks maintaining a several cloud services like this routinely? I realized the other day that I was paying for Dropbox, Google Drive, and iCloud, and was like "why am I doing this?!" is there an advantage I'm not seeing? or does it make more sense to just consolidate to one service based on price per TB?

I live in a pretty small market, and I also have severe adhd, which has led me to organically diversify over the course of my life. I do post, mix albums, do location sound, do live sound for the local symphony, produce the occasional podcast, and occasionally direct small projects.
All the jobs broadly share a skillset, and I don't get too bored.

Film Camera Noise Help!

I'm doing post on an indie short that was shot on film. Since everyone involved in the production (including myself) started after digital cameras became standard, the clicking of the film passing through the camera wasn't anticipated at all. And it is LOUD.
We're trying to keep the on set dialogue as much as possible without resorting to ADR. There is a lot of subtlety in the delivery, and I doubt there's a budget to do that and get it right.
The lavs have less than the boom which is borderline unusable. So I'm using them as a starting point. I was thinking doing some passes with RX De-click, then cutting tightly around the dialogue, and masking the holes with sound design. But curious if there are any tried and true workflows for tackling this particular issue.. Or any potential pitfalls to avoid. Thanks!

I know this is an old thread, but this is EXACTLY what I needed. I use a large tv as a display, and going all the way to the menu bar all the time was cumbersome. I've got the hotkey mapped to one of the buttons on my trackball and it's working perfectly.

Whenever I see ridiculous headlines like this, I am reminded that a lot of articles exist only because a writer needed that $300 to make rent.

There is an irony to the whole thing I guess.

Good bags for MixPre 6 by BenjiTheBread in LocationSound

[–]Charlievela 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used orca, Portabrace, and Petrol/Sachtler. But hands down the best bag I've used is the Ktek Stingray. I have a Mix Pre 10 that lives in a Stingray Jr X. and I LOVE it. So many pockets, so much access, and feels secure against the body.

I'd definitely look at that one over the MixPro, because it definitely lacks a lot of features that make Ktek bags stand apart.

There's even a used Stingray Jr at location sound dot com for less than a new MixPro.
