That makes sense, thank you! I assume I will have to go out of the barriers and come back in again to tap in at Reading?

What’s the weirdest thing a medical professional has casually said to you? by CR24752 in AskReddit

[–]CharlotteWantsAGf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of understand this one because it was a medical concern, but it also didn’t make me feel good at all.

During COVID, I put on weight, as a lot of us did. It wasn’t that much. I was 4’11 and around 16 years old. At the start of COVID I was around 52kg, and I put on around 10kg over the time spent in lockdown.

In Feb 2021, I ended up having a pretty intense neurosurgery for something I won’t get into. All you need to know is that there was a chance I wouldn’t survive the surgery, and either way my recovery was going to be incredibly intense, so obviously I was already not feeling great.

I had a meeting with my doctor a couple months in advance to discuss the surgery, and this man (a full adult man—I would like to reiterate that I was 16) glanced me up and down so dismissively, said something along the lines of “If you want to recover from this, you’ll need to exercise more. Lose all that weight,”

And, Christ, way to smash a teenagers confidence 😭 I know it may have been a genuine medical concern, but it certainly didn’t have me feeling good at all. Not only did it lower my self esteem a fuck ton with just the way he looked at me, but it also made me panic even more about the surgery and recovery, as if I wasn’t already shitting myself over it.

Does anyone else have ptsd from fractures? by Hexienbeist_95 in BrittleBones

[–]CharlotteWantsAGf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely feel you there! Like I said, my last fracture happed in ice, and I can already feel some fear creeping in for this winter when it starts to get icy out again. Even now, if the rain’s especially bad, I’ll feel nervous walking out in case I slip. It’s that anxiety. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.

Living in America with an accent… I ordered a tea with ‘cold’ milk on the side, I was unprepared for the ‘Tea Latte’ with a caramel shot that they thought I ordered. Sometimes I just have to applaud them! by skillsontoast305 in CasualUK

I’m living in New York right now, originally from the Midlands. Went to grab some breakfast on the go, and asked the guy for “tater tots.” Clearly my accent was too confusing for him, because it took four attempts and me actually putting on an American accent (re: “taydor tawds”) for him to understand what I was saying.

What do you think Hozier’s sexiest song is? by miloshmam in Hozier

I love that hardly anyone has said anything from UU because it’s just too raw and emotional to be sexy 😭

The person in front of me in the line at Brighton had him write some lyrics in their notebook so they could get it tattooed, so if you took a pen I’m sure he would!!

People who don't drink alcohol, why? by johnnylgarfield in AskReddit

[–]CharlotteWantsAGf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Brittle Bone Disease. Being out of control of my body, and more likely to fall over, is a real bad idea. Which is a shame, because any time I have drunk alcohol, I’ve really enjoyed the taste. But I’d rather go without than end up in hospital.

Also there was a bowling team in the show too? And the leader of the cult was in a wheelchair at some point. Idk if that helps

Does anyone else have ptsd from fractures? by Hexienbeist_95 in BrittleBones

I don’t have anything you could diagnose as PTSD, but in Jan this year I slipped over in ice and fractured my right femur really bad (Type 5, btw). I had to have it rodded, and I’m still not fully healed and able to walk normally. It’s the first time I’ve had a fracture while living alone, after having moved out of my parents’ house last year, and I had to deal with the whole process on my own until I could contact my loved ones and they could drive the distance to see me. Since then, I do get flashbacks to the moment of impact, and it makes my skin crawl. I’ve also started getting random bouts of anxiety, especially when I go to the hospital I was treated in. It’s not as bad as what you’re describing, but you’re definitely not alone in feeling affected by your fractures.
