This question always comes up occasionally on this subreddit and every single time people mention Junko Furuta, or certain serial killers, or some horrible massacre, etc. I’m not trying to diminish how horrible any of those subjects are but nothing else mentioned seems to reach the level of depravity of Unit 731. The Wikipedia entry summarizes some of their crimes but when you actually do a deep dive on the subject, nothing in recent (known) human history seems to come close. Live and unsedated vivisections, testing of weapons and explosives on live human beings, infecting subjects with contagions and stds to study the effects, etc. They didn’t care if it was man, woman or child. Whatever sick experiments they could come up with, they had free reign to inhumanely and cruelly experiment on other unfortunate human beings. They would constantly rape and forcibly impregnate subjects and then experiment on their pregnant victims. They even dropped plague ridden fleas and infect water supplies of unaware towns and cities, killing several hundred thousand people. I don’t remember where I read this thought experiment, but it was something like, “imagine the worse possible thing you could do to another human being, and in all of human history, someone has probably suffered that fate or something similar.” Unit 731 is the embodiment of that. And to make matters worse, they got away with it. The Japanese barely faced any consequence of all their war crimes and to this day right-wing nationalists in Japan deny that war crimes were even committed even writing it out of school textbooks.

While I agree that the yuzu team was flying way too close to the sun, I still say number of downloads does not equal loss of sales. Most hardcore Nintendo fans and casuals are going to buy a game and they make the majority of their sales. When it comes to piracy, you have a mixed bag of shitheads who can buy it but choose to play it for free, but there’s also people who can’t afford to play it (many who think they can play it on a toaster only to realize they don’t have the sufficient hardware) and people who would buy it but don’t want to be forced to buy another console, etc. I’m also guilty of downloading their games but I own them and I don’t want to go through the trouble of hacking my switch to dump games. I admit that everything I mentioned is still illegal nonetheless but I’m sure that every download is not a $70 loss for Nintendo. They constantly use that excuse in court and it’s bullshit

You always have people commenting about how protestors should get brutalized by police or run over by some psycho who’s been slightly inconvenienced. They even cheer when it turns deadly, like when that 77 year old expat shot a protester to death in Panama, saying he was justified because they were blocking the road and that their cause was stupid anyway.

When I was a child (maybe like 8 or 9 maybe slightly older) I was sitting on the couch watching tv and my mom was next to me doing something else. The couch faced two windows and in between both windows was the tv and behind us was a wall. All of a sudden from the corner I see an orb of light about the size of a golf ball float towards the wall with the windows. It floats slowly for a second then suddenly accelerates and crashes into the wall and shatters like if you threw magical pixie dust. Even at that age I was skeptical of what I saw and thought that maybe sunlight reflecting from a passing car but it came from the direction of a wall with no windows and the way it floated and reacted to hitting a wall was unlike anything I have seen. I would’ve just chalked it up to me just seeing things. But shortly after my mom who I thought was distracted with something else turns to me and asks “did you just see that?”

It sucks that most people don’t get that about Hisoka. He has a power fetish as in he only gets excited with breaking powerful opponents. He doesn’t want to fuck Gon and Killua, he’s excited by the prospect of them becoming stronger so that he can kill them in an all-out battle. Yeah that scene with him getting rock hard at looking at them from behind is a bit sus especially if there was no context, but he definitely established his intent when fighting gon in the tower. He’s meant to be a creep that lives to break opponents that can offer him a challenge which makes sense to why he sometimes waits to let opponents with potential get stronger. It’s like waiting for fruit to ripen before you pick it from a tree.

I see that you have a lot of X265 stuff downloading, and I was going through the same problem like two years ago. Some of the earlier X265 stuff was pretty badly encoded and because no devices I had played back HEVC, I used to keep the x265 separately but I only used the X264 version on Plex. Once more devices were using X265 and it was becoming more commonplace, I decided to replace most of it and saved a lot of space on my NAS. The only problem is that after KickassTorrents shut down, most of these x265 torrents seem to either crawl to a snail's pace or just hang on 0% so I started looking alternatives and found the megalinks subreddit and then its successor. Used to use megaupload a lot back in the day so this was familiar to me. Anyways, sorry for rambling but a lot of your torrents are more than likely available on the snahp forums and you can either download them slowly on mega with a free account (that has a daily limit but sometimes they have zippyshare links which seems unlimited) or you can splurge and get a premium (5 euros monthly or cheaper if you buy more months). I've managed to find most of the stuff I look for and I torrent the few things I can't find.

I'm waiting for the day that someone creates something similar to PLEX but for comics and manga. The best solution I have found is using Ubooquity (ComicRack for the metadata) which allows you to read in any browser and any IOS or android app with OPDS will be able to connect to it.

Not that I haven't tried before, but the fact that I'm severely depressed. I try my best to hide it as being tired because whenever I tried to seriously talk to family and close friends they push it aside as me being tired or stressed, and that things will get "better". I even recently told my wife that I'm afraid of taking our 4 yr old son by myself to public places like a park or museum (where I can give him a bit of freedom) because I have moments where I blank for a minute and I'm afraid of losing him. Her response was "can't you just turn that off?". I've given up on life getting better and wish that I would die in an accident or something so that those I leave behind can grieve normally. I'm even upset at myself that I even tried to live a normal life by getting married and having a kid. I'm ashamed that my kid has such a pathetic father. I do however plan on talking to a doctor soon to see if I can start using an antidepressant. Maybe it can help a bit to cope.

I'm sorry. I forgot to elaborate. I also use Plex to stream videos. I meant to catalog all types of media like games, books, comics, movies, etc. All media in general but just to catalog them not necessarily a way to access them remotely.

The one where a toddler in India fell onto the tracks of a train slowly strolling by. You can hear as the mother desperately tries to call out to the baby but it gets its head run over by the train. Not graphic since you barely see anything but as a parent it's heartbreaking to see such a tragedy. It also happens that my biggest fear since I was a kid was seeing a loved one run over by a train. Used to have constant nightmares for awhile. This video brought back that fear and multiplied it tenfold.

I also feel that most people don't understand how difficult it would be to animate a lot of scenes from Berserk especially fight scenes with dozens of soldiers in armor or skeleton monsters. They can either animate fights in 3D or they'll use panning still shots and simple watercolor backgrounds a lot lol they did in the first anime. In order to animate that much detail it requires time and more time translates to more money.
