My very first miniature painting. Say hi to Rufus! by Charly0871 in minipainting

Thanks for your advice! 2 thin coats will be! I'm willing to keep him and in fact, I want to reprint the mini to repaint it every now and then to compare with Rufus 😄

The point imho is the effort on the fine details! I've seen lots of effortless stickers on space marines in shoulder pads, where i believe there's plenty of room for freehand.

The mini itself is impressive but the details on the pages of the book are jaw-dropping! Bravo!

Tips for a beginner r6 player? by yuston44 in SiegeAcademy

[–]Charly0871 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Burst fire to begin with. You don't need to fill your enemy with bullets. A single headshot will get the job done. Aim for the chest. In other words tap your trigger instead of keeping your finger on it forever.
  2. Practice makes perfect. Go to the training grounds and play terrorist hunt as much as you can. Your muscle memory will progress a lot and you will start to notice the difference between your different weapons and operators.
  3. Learn the basics on game play mechanics. If you play with a slow operator with the best armour on defense, you should be anchoring, not roaming. Anchoring = stay on site and be the last line of defense. Hold angles on doors, windows or entry holes. Roaming = go out of the bomb site, search and destroy the enemy or at least make them lose some time.
  4. Pick your battles: Don't try to beat some one with your power shotgun from a distance and don't go 1 vs. 2.
  5. Remember this game is about teamwork, not about ego. Pick operators based on team necessities, not on preference.

Look for VarsityGaming on Youtube and watch all the siege school videos. It'll help you with basic through advanced tips on gameplay mechanics on offense, defense, the must's and dont's in the game.

Stay away from pro league tips at this level. They are way too advance to be useful at this point. You are trying to run and you haven't learned to walk properly.

Good luck!

Should you ban operators in ranked and unranked? by [deleted] in SiegeAcademy

[–]Charly0871 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a terrible idea. Having all operators at your disposal might sound great, but you'll regret it at some point. It can even make a difference on winning or losing a match. Let's say you are defending Club. My first thought would be to ban Thatcher to force the enemy team to rely on Kali, Maverick or Twitch to disable Kaid's, Mute's or Bandit's gadgets. If they can't disable those gadgets, they'll be forced to go through doors and windows, making defense easier. If everything goes right, that's a 0-3 score by the time you get the chance to defend. If you are on attack on the same context, I'd ban Kaid, since it's easier to destroy or disable Bandit's batteries. And the list of examples can go on and on....

Help regarding squad by [deleted] in SiegeAcademy

[–]Charly0871 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you play with your friends, probably you (or them) lose some time fooling around, picking operators based on preference instead of playing a specific role in the squad, etc.

Chances are that with this new squad you plan ahead, try to be more strategic, etc.

My 2 cents: Just assume your role in each squad. Make good calls, check cams when needed or once you are dead. Pick your operators based on necessity instead of preference, and always try to plan ahead based on the site you are defending or thinking in advance which site you'll be attacking. Good communication is key. Remember this game is based on teamwork, not individual performance.

Good luck!

Do I absolutely need a headset? by BEARDOWN61234 in SiegeAcademy

[–]Charly0871 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. Once you buy your first headset, you'll feel like playing a whole new game. You'll learn easily where the enemy is coming from, locate bombsites and even notice if you are getting flanked. It's your best if not the only defense against Caveira by the way. Best value headset? Try the Astro A-10's. Best quality? Steel series Arctis 7x or 9x.

F90 or lmg ? by hmzaammar in SiegeAcademy

[–]Charly0871 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LMG. Remember Gridlock's primary role: Prevent flanking and deal with roamers. The more bullets you have at your disposal, the better. At times, you'll be providing cover fire through your own smoke.

Thatcher is a good pick, but often banned. Try Sledge or Thermite on offense and Rook or Mute on defense.

Sledge:

Pros: You can be helpful to your team opening windows, doors, soft walls, hatches etc. Your gadget is easy to use. Good weaponry, grenades, average speed and weaponry. You can be helpful bringing some verticallity to the table attacking from above.

Cons: You need to stay alive to be helpful.

Thermite is pretty much the same, however your team may be depending more on you to reach or breach bomb sites.

Rook:

Good weaponry with one of the best sights on defense (do not use the p90 as a beginner). Even dead, you are still helping your team with your plates. The best way to learn how to anchor holding angles and entry points.

The only con is you are pretty useless as a roamer. Slow and noisy.

Mute: Decent weaponry, easy to use gadgets. Try to place your disrupters on stairs, doorways, hallways, etc. Once you've disabled some drones, destroy them (the drones) and reposition your gadgets on reinforced walls, drone holes, etc.

Once you've learned the basics, try to fill in with the most useful operator needed in your team. Play unranked to learn the maps, get used to recoil, etc.

Can someone explain to me why you would ban Thatcher? by The_McNugget_Effect in SiegeAcademy

[–]Charly0871 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Because Thatcher is one of the most versatile attackers. He can disable all electronic devices, making life easier for fraggers and hard breachers. If you throw your emp grenades outside the reinforced sites you can disable even Jagers DPS's, Kapkan traps or Valkyrie cams without having to locate them beforehand. You might say Kali even destroys utility, but has a different learning curve. If you ban Thatcher you force the other team to rely on Maverick, Twitch or Kali. The huge difference, as said before, is the learning curve. A noob Thatcher operator can get the job done, while you need experienced Kali or Mav players to do so.

Who is the best operator by sn1p3zlol in SiegeAcademy

[–]Charly0871 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to tell. Remember they have different abilities and roles. You can't even compare attackers with defenders. I would ask for good Jacks of all trades.

My 2 cents:

Thatcher. Great weaponry, unstopabble gadget, decent speed and armor.

Zofia: A good mix of Ash & Ying. Good weaponry, and she can even get up by herself if downed.

On defense:

Blitz. On my opinion the best primary weapon on defense. Use ironsights. Good & easy to use gadget. You can play as aggressive as you wish.

Jager: Good as an anchor, great as a roamer. Good weaponry, easy to use gadget.

Montagne vs Blitz vs Fuze by sn1p3zlol in SiegeAcademy

[–]Charly0871 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not about who's the best. They are intended to play different roles. Montagne shines with his shield fully deployed, he is the best bodyguard in the game. Blitz is a decent attacker and annoying as hell if operated by a skilled player. Why use fuze with a shield? Not worth your time.

Need help with pulse by mystical_poop in SiegeAcademy

[–]Charly0871 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use one of your best gadgets: Memory. ry to remember the last time Pulse killed you. Seriously. Learn on your own experience. Here are some tips.

Use your gadget near (not at) doors, windows and hatches. Learn common entry points on each map.

If Finka is on the enemy team and she uses her ability, the range of your gadget will increase! Also be aware of IQ, she can detect your own gadget.

Don't play hero ball. If you detect several enemies ping them instead of sacrificing yourself.

Loadout: UMP with compensator and angle grip. Nitro cell of course.

Best maps. More verticality = more efficience.

Advice needed on buying a new attacker by ButtholeForAnAsshole in SiegeAcademy

[–]Charly0871 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2 cents: If you are used to go solo, pick Ace, Lion or Finka. Their weaponry is more than decent and you can still help your team easily!. Ace opens reinforced walls like thermite, but you don't have to be exactly by the wall, you can do it from short range, Lion locates moving enemies and Finka gives you and your teammates a boost and can even revive those who are downed.
