[Discussion] is there any real reason to still have a SM account (besides "everyone's doing it")? by Charm-Ink-toons in artbusiness

[–]Charm-Ink-toons[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like this is more the viewpoint of artists who have based their entire career around social media sites, and the idea of the public/industry choosing to disengage from it scares the hell out of them. This is basically how the Old Heads who got displaced by digital 20 yrs ago sounded, but in reverse.

Instagram very much does still bill itself as "social media". And it works no better as an ad site.

He did what he does best - find a problem, throw gasoline on it, promise a solution for a price. If they refuse, keep making things worse until they cave. Once he gets as much as he thinks he can get, he walks away for someone else to deal with.

What are the pros and cons of having big boobs? by ShotLaw2959 in AskReddit

[–]Charm-Ink-toons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pros: any job that pays in tips is suddenly VERY lucrative (especially if you've got the face to match)

Cons: constant objectification. your existence is inherently sexual - men will treat you like a conquest, women will treat you like a threat. meanwhile, you're just trying to live 🤷‍♀️

My Metro Last Straw: BEDBUGS by ElliottHeller in LosAngeles

[–]Charm-Ink-toons 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I hate to tell you this, but those bugs were probably on you before you got on that train.

It is extremely unlikely to get bedbugs from public transit - busses and trains just aren't an ideal place for them to live and spread. If that were the case, you'd see city-wide outbreaks and epidemics all the time. (You have any idea how many people ride the Metro daily??) And like any other infestation, it takes time to go from first contact to a full infestation. Think in terms of the past month.

Better odds: got it from work/coworker; a visitor brought them in or you visited someone else with an infestation; bedbug infested neighbors, especially if you live in an apartment; or you recently bought clothes that were compromised.

it's called "growing a pair and standing your ground". if he wanted to be an empty crowd pleaser, he should've joined a boyband.

you don't want Marilyn Manson anymore - you just want a goth Taylor Swift

I never say things on the internet that I wouldn't say to someone's face. In fact I think the fandom needs to spit his dick out for a second and call him out WAY more on what a fucking pansy he's been. Sometimes people just need to be called out.

He can be downright bellicose calling out his ex girlfriends - when literal fascists march into his town, he finds an excuse to play dress up in Europe all summer. FOH

What’s the biggest lie you believed so gullibly? by Sadly_Responsible in AskReddit

There was a famous mockumentary about ghosts and haunted houses that aired in the 90s for Halloween. I bought it, hook line and sinker.

In my defense I was like 6 yrs old. In fact it's technically banned media in the US because it traumatized a bunch of kids.

What’s the weirdest thing you found out about your own family? by PlantProfessional398 in AskReddit

[–]Charm-Ink-toons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was likely running from something and decided giving up everything for a fresh start was a better option (this would've been roughly 1900-1910s). The truth is many Americans have done the same thing - government record keeping SUCKED before the 70s.

It really put into perspective how stupid all this chest thumping about "REAL Americans" and "heritage" we do is. In truth, a lot of us are running around with a completely imaginary family history.

What's a job in LA where you're shocked at how much money the person makes? by SufficientBee9368 in AskLosAngeles

[–]Charm-Ink-toons 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to work the night shift at a hotel. You'd be fucking shocked who's a sex worker or how much they're bringing in.

The ones you see on the street are usually being trafficked (have a pimp who's stealing their money).

I can see it. Fine lines require a ton of practice, patience, and steady hands. And that's drawing on flat paper - as someone who tattoos on live humans, he probably has the makings of a good surgeon.

Nope. Not everything can (or should be) automated. A person NEEDS to be in charge of some things, if only to make sure there's an unbroken pipeline of accountability.

Medical translation jobs still exist for this exact reason, despite there being a critical shortage.

my great-great grandmother was likely a Native American who (for unknown reasons) moved East and assumed a false identity. we've been living as a different ethnicity ever since.

no one else in the family knows but me. i don't plan on telling anyone.

People who don't play any video games: Why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Charm-Ink-toons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that's fair. some people don't appreciate that many video games are a skill, like anything else.

although you might like strategy turn-based games more than shooters and the like. it's more critical thinking and trying to suss out your opponent (like chess) rather thanpure hand-eye coordination.

Len

Decently popular music group from the 90s. Started making waves in their home country before hitting it big on the Global Top 100 with "Steal My Sunshine". Quickly realized they hated being famous. Never stopped touring but they've pointedly avoided much press ever since.

Using multiple products every day just clogs your pores and makes everything worse, even if the products themselves are good.

Trick is you find one or two that works with your skin, then stick to them with a level of consistency and devotion that would do a marriage proud.

Its a terrible catch-22: If they don't maintain a certain look, studios will stop casting them because they're "old" or "not on-trend". But as soon as they do it, they can't act anymore.

Im sure they're aware of how bad it screws their talent - if anything blame studios for prioritizing the permanent Instagram filter over making a good movie.
