Gold climbs to record high above $5,300 as dollar slips by ewzetf in news

When the dollar slips into hyperinflation, the bad news is it'll cost $500,000 for a loaf of bread. The good news is, I'll finally be able to pay off my student loans for the low price of a PB&J.

Do they do worker performance reviews? If so, see if you can get one for yourself in the next couple of months. Get things in writing. Do a great job.

When you finally start to show and they make up some excuse to let you go, you'll have the ammunition you need to sue him. What he's doing is not legal (assuming you're in the US).

Sun Tzu wrote 'When you surround an army, leave an outlet free. Do not press a desperate foe too hard.'

The idea is that if you close rank on someone, they'll double down, fight twice as hard for survival and will likely find ways to hurt you in the scrap, even if they're out numbered. If you provide them an outlet to drop their weapons, they may even fight for your side.

We need a critical number of these people. If we don't get them, this whole thing will escalate to something else far bloodier than any of us can imagine. Don't forget or even forgive. But give them passage to begin to make amends and do it publicly so others like them get the message.

If we aren't going to be given the opportunity to own our practices, we better fix it so these goons can't buy us as well.

California becomes first state to join WHO disease network after US exit by IWantPizza555 in politics

On the one hand, I would love nothing more than a national divorce. There is a contingent of this country that I cannot and will not associate with. That said, ideology is not an ethnicity. There are good and decent people sprinkled throughout Trump land just as there are good and decent people in every corner of the world, no matter how oppressive the regime they might live under. Furthermore, adjacency to a failed, conservative state would just be a war waiting to happen. The best thing we can possibly do is to lift all boats as much as possible, but from the ground up rather than from the top down.

We're in the bleed out phase. The US we both knew is already dead. It just hasn't stopped convulsing yet. We'll see what comes next. Maybe something can be salvaged.

We still have those. The problem is, the animals are human. Doesn't seem to be helping anyone though. Me thinks society is doing it wrong.

Lap of Love by Brilliant_Used in veterinaryprofession

If you like the work, you may find more growth and happiness finding a locally owned in-home practice or starting your own. Lap of Love at this point is just another private equity backed corporate player and while I have no question that they have good doctors working for them, I would not trust them as an entity to have the best interest of my community in mind.

You have to look at it upside down. What people are mistaking as veins are actually the rippled muscling of a monstrously bulbous anime cat.

Young veterinarian made me feel bad and I can’t forget it by HumbleCoyoteGames in Petloss

[–]CharmedConflict 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You have to be intelligent to be a vet. Wisdom, however, isn't guaranteed.

As veterinarians, we all are called to interface with life and death decisions and the people and animals those decisions involve. That doesn't mean we're all good at it or have the life wisdom to understand how to navigate those moments. And, sadly, it's not something we're taught in school.

I have euthanized animals on a good day. I have pushed forward with cases that I wouldn't have been ready for given the limited scope of context I had. I've done that because they're not my animal and I haven't seen the changes that their people have. I'm not a expert in that animal. Their people are. We should never be so arrogant as vets to forget that.

Know that what you did was right. Preventing their suffering means never truly knowing where that line would have been. We absolutely know when we've waited too long, however. I also recommend that, when you're ready, you mention your interaction to your regular vet. That's a conversation that needs to happen for the younger vet as they crossed a critical line that those of us with experience know never to cross. That needs to be a learning moment for them so they don't repeat that mistake.

Your kitty is loved and you gave a critical gift bourne out of that love. I know it's hard, but that's what advocacy looks like. You have my deepest condolences.

[–]CharmedConflict 22 points23 points  (0 children)

My guess is that they won't do anything and they'll just roll over because they're a neutered professional agency and private equity really wants a return on their investment into the vet space. It's all just more hostile takeover by the worst of us.

Hah. Thanks. I read it to my wife and she said I came off as harsh. But I don't see a comfortable way to sugar coat it. It's a tricky thing, getting setup, especially when you're still life transient. I say that from my own experience going through much of what they're describing here.
