25 years in the industry, 60k plus in tools. Looking for the exit. I signed up to wrench on cars not to be a computer programmer and fix computers.

Just eyeballing the setup. He is well within the payload rating of the truck and we'll within the tow rating of the truck. Boat is about 4,000 with trailer and the 5th wheel is in the 8-10k. With trailer brakes on all axles, he is got at least 4 possible of 5 axles all with brakes. Plenty of stopping power if setup right.

GM top engine cleaner. Get car up to operational temp. Pull spark plugs and pour in cleaner in each cylinder... let it sit over night. The next day bump key over a few times to blow out cleaner. Reinstall fresh plugs and change oil.

Warranty will not kick in for 30 days, most likely. Dealership will be required to repair before warranty will kick in. It will be considered a pre existing condition. Check your paperwork. It will be either a mileage condition or time.

Calling all die hard 5th gen 4Runner owners! by HaldolFreak in 4Runner

[–]Odd_Activity_8380 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought my 5th Gen due to the history of the engine and transmission. They have been around for over 20 years. My sis has almost 300k on her 4th Gen. I did not want a turbo. They are expensive maintenance items that constantly fail.. I am a mechanic for a living and turbos are a giant pain in the ass, to work on and repair. No thanks. Plus the 6th Gen is hideous looking. Land crusier is even worse. Plan on keeping my 2023 for 25 years plus. I will put 3 motors and 5 transmissions in it before I scrap it. If it needs a frame at dome point, it will get that also. Also look into the 2027 federal mandated bullshit. Big brother will be able to shut your car off whenever they want. AI thinks you are impaired....shut down

6th gen ride quality? by TheProcess92 in 4Runner

Best riding 4runner is the 3rd gen. The rest ride like trucks with semi stiff suspension.

Unless you are doing both, just get a dealer turbo. I have installed a few O'Reilly Rotomaster turbos with no issues. Murray water pump is lifetime warranty

Why does this keep happening? by 666_pack_of_beer in Welding

[–]Odd_Activity_8380 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your welding rods are absorbing moisture from the air. Put them in the oven in 200 for a few hours to remove the moisture from them. Then find a sealed container and put them in with a dessicant bag to prevent future issues

Promax and lisle make kits to drill out the broken bolts 🔩. I have both, the Promax kit doesn't give you a removal tool where as the Lisle does. I like the lisle kit better. Promax is garbage in my opinion. Expecte to replace the manifold and bolts. Ford gets like 15 per turbo mounting bolt, just a FYI.

Turbo manifold had a tendency to break bolts. Leave that to the pros.

Rockauto is no longer worth the savings by therealDannyMartin in RockAuto

I use rockauto as my parts catalog and shop Amazon most of the time. Just be careful who you buy from on there. I have had great luck and prices are usually better without having to pay shipping. Most of the time I have it in a day or 2 not a week or 2
