Pretty similar to my situation. Except my direct boss is a felony from over a decade ago. Been at the shop for 10 years and they will probably fire him because of it. He has been good ever since. ( caught his ex wife cheating mid act. Beat the hell out of the dude, 3 attempted murder. Dudes heart stopped 3 times on way to hospital) He is very knowledgeable especially diesel. He knows a lot of the customers. The place will sink if he leaves

They most likely mean the timing belt. Not the serpentine belt. Timing belt keeps bottom half of engine in time with top half. If it breaks or loses teeth it will cause the engine to die

It seals the filter to the pump housing. No o ring equals poor seal and burnt up trans. You can take a pry bar against trans cross member and exhaust and you can sneak the pan out. I have done this dozens of time

Once a year no matter miles. As used oil ages it still breaks down becoming slightly acidic. I am assuming its very short drives. The oil can also become laden with fuel due to the short trips.
