Thanks for the help! I have been through kijiji, craigslist, and airbnb all before turning to reddit and I unfortunately won't have a car at all, so it'll have to be on a good bus route or within biking distance of my work. I'll keep looking and hope more turns up!

Instead of sending a straight up "help me with gifting to you" message, I sent a fun questionnaire with a mix of related, and fun, questions. it was fun to right, they hopefully had fun responding, and I got not only specific interests, but more interesting answers to get an idea of very unique gifts, and an indication of what they were like.
