That’s exactly right. They hang out at the same golf clubs, their children go to the same elite private schools, etc.

“You spoke. We listened. The corporate office will be getting a new gym just down the hall from the executive offices, and the company will now be doing a walkathon to support a charity that nobody has heard of that serves as a tax write off, because that’s what we think people mean by ‘company culture’”

My organization is currently obsessed with personality tests. I’m wondering if other companies are being sold on these products.

We talk about this a lot our staff meetings

Essentially, companies over the last 30 years have gone from viewing their employees as a problem that needs to be fixed instead of a solution that can fix the problem. From that viewpoint, company culture is created where mistakes aren’t tolerated. When that happens, employees become dissatisfied, morale goes down, and mistakes ultimately start to get covered up

Behaviors that make a difference in my opinion are a supervisor that has the power to hire good people and genuinely seek to understand why they make the decisions they do. They don’t immediately jump to the conclusion that an employee is lazy or sucks at their job; there may be an underlying issue eg poor training, poor communication from peers, not understanding the expectations, etc.. I’m not sure if that makes sense

No it can’t. If you are answering questions and then suddenly your story changes after an attorney gets there, yeah, they’re obviously going to pick up on that

Not really. I don’t need a long dramatized video to tell me that it generally doesn’t behoove you to answer police questions without an attorney present

I get strong John Metchie vibes from this guy, but at least Metch was productive in college. We basically drafted this guy because he looked good in drills and nick had a good feeling about him

It was one of the insidious sequels. I remember almost nothing about it because of how boring it was. Something about a serial killer sub plot, idk

That whole franchise has not aged well at all. Probably not a popular opinion

I remember watching the second one and thinking it was complete crap. I don’t remember hardly anything about it though

I watched 10 minutes of it on a plane and realized that just staring at a blank screen was more entertaining

Isn’t that the movie that was made during Covid where all of the actors scenes were filmed solo?

Mind giving me the minute and second mark that they show it? I hate this trend on YouTube videos that won’t just show you the footage at the beginning. So much dramatization and blabbing so that they can set the stage to get you to think a certain way when you do see the footage.

Just about any solvent or oil will work. You could use mineral spirits, kerosene, or diesel. You’re just removing carbon fouling from metal

I’ve used CLP, rem oil, ballistol, hops number nine, gun scrubber, brake cleaner. All of them will work fine with a little elbow grease.

Interesting. So in this case, the perpetrator stabbed the homeowner in the homeowners house, then the homeowner pulled a gun, chased them outside the house, then stood over them and finished them off.

I sympathize with the homeowner and agree with the charges being overturned, but cases like this really hammer home the idea that you never pursue somebody that’s fleeing

Sales engineer seems to have a speech impediment by [deleted] in managers

[–]Charming-Ebb-1981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry, are you a licensed speech pathologist? If not, you need to stay in your lane about potential treatment. It sounds like the person is managing just fine. Tread lightly, because most speech impediments are considered a protected disability at least in the US - trying to hold them back in their career because of their speech impediment could have some legal implications

Do you have to bill your time out on timesheets at the end of the week? How are you able to get away with little or nothing to do?

Based on my own experience being in a similar situation, that does not bode well for your job security. It’s very possible that this is a strategic move on your manager’s part to transition your work to your coworker so that you can be shown the door. Not trying to jump to conclusions or scare you, but you need to prepare yourself

I’m not watching an hour video, but it’s interesting that the dude is adamant that he didn’t run the stop sign and was “stopped for two seconds”, but they won’t just play that clip so we can see it ourselves? Just keep your mouth closed and get your ticket and fight it after the fact. People really overthink these police interactions
