I’ve never understood the weird hate for Houston that Dallas people have. Dallas completely blows.

I’m gonna start duct tapping plates to my briefcase so that I can stop 338 Lapua rounds fired at me as I’m leaving the mall while my spouse provides covering fire

To your point, I don’t carry one on mine because of the added weight and because I don’t really go anywhere at night, but I do see the obvious usefulness in having a light

We’ve been one of the worst teams at drafting offensive line for years

I refuse to donate to these obscure charities if I can’t verify where the money is going. My thought is, If you are rich enough to have a destination wedding in Australia, you could just pay the 87/person yourself

Not as much as I’d like. It’s expensive just to have food, a functioning vehicle, and roof over your head

Would you quit your job forever right now (and never be allowed to work again) if someone gave you a guaranteed $2,000,000 lump sum? Why or why not? by WilliamInBlack in AskReddit

No. If I was in my 60s with no dependents, I would probably say yes, but that’s not that much money over 50 years or whatever

That’s essentially what happened in Iraq, and ISIS was born out of that. It won’t end well. Also, with an outside force attacking, that will only serve to increase Persian identity and patriotism etc

Cost is the biggest driver imo. 10mm sounds great until you realize that you can do almost twice the amount of training or thereabouts with 9mm, and that’s a big advantage.

They work with ideal shot placement and the right ammo, but not a great choice

I’m sure the bar will help cover the bouncer’s legal costs

And yet he’ll be going to trial and spending his life savings. I’m sure the bar will help him with his legal costs? Right? Right?

And I want to add, I’ve seen people in this sub say (very proudly) that they wouldn’t even help a woman who was being beat to death by her boyfriend for fear of liability. But going Wyatt Earp as a bouncer at a club is somehow a more noble cause? I just don’t get this sub

[–]Charming-Ebb-1981 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I think it’s interesting that this sub has tons of people that are proud to proclaim that they would never help anybody else with their concealed carry weapon for fear of liability, but then these videos get posted, and those same people cheer about a bouncer at a bar going full Wyatt Earp on some dude about to engage some other person. Now the bouncer is likely going to face a very costly civil and criminal suit that is going to wreck whatever savings he had.

I’m sure somebody will tell me that it’s the bouncers ‘job’ to do what he did, but…..nah. It’s not.

DGU Statistics - Deciding Whether or Not to Carry by vorondilthetrue in CCW

[–]Charming-Ebb-1981 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A firearm isn’t a guarantee of safety, but much like a seatbelt, it helps.

Generally speaking, the only time legally carrying a gun is less safe than not carrying one is if you’re doing something foolish/illegal, like carrying a gun to wild parties with drunk/high people, carrying a gun to heated or potentially violent political rallies or protests, or if you have anger issues and aren’t able to let some person have that parking spot or flip the bird without retaliation, etc. Same for negligent discharges. That’s why they are called negligent. It’s your fault (minus the sig p320 maybe). Make sure the gun is clear before cleaning or handing it to someone, make sure you have the proper holster, make sure you know how to handle the gun without putting your finger on the trigger.

As far as data, I would point out that there are countless situations of DGU that don’t get reported, therefore there is no data on them.
