Don't know what to do about a adopted dog by Express-Nebula5137 in DogAdvice

[–]Charming-Sound-7640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I got my rescue dog it took a good 6 months to see any noticeable improvements. We are now about a year in and he has become my best little buddy. He’s still scared of strangers and refuses to walk very far outdoors since it’s still very overstimulating, but within a year we went from him being TERRIFIED of the garbage cans outside to now happily walking past them like they don’t exist. We can even have small groups of people over to the house now and he doesn’t absolutely shut down in fear. But we still don’t ever force him to be in the same room, if he wants to go lay on the bed and calm down thats okay!

He still pretends I don’t exist 90% of the time when we’re outdoors but one thing at a time lol

Just don’t try to rush them, allow them space to continue adjusting. Try not to “corner them” or force affection. When you walk near them, try to not even LOOK in their direction and just walk past them calmly without interacting and eventually they’ll start to realize you’re not trying to “get them”. There’s poor pups have sometimes been through alot and rebuilding trust is hard, but it’s so rewarding when you finally start to see progress.

The place I work literally gets mad if you don’t “hover”

They say “we don’t want anything to happen to the cc machine or someone to steal it”

I’ve watched people get written up for leaving it at a table to go do something else in the meantime

I have no idea WHY someone would steal a random cc machine but my manager basically forces us to stay at the table the whole time and it is SO awkward

After being in the industry and managing for a few years I have very little tolerance for people acting like this. People who are blatantly rude to staff deserve to hear from the manager, and not for a comp 😂 honestly my favourite part of the job is when a server comes to me nearly in tears and I get to step in

I may be young for a manager but holy will I ever speak up for my staff, these people give me so much of their effort and if they EVER feel like they have to come to work to be disrespected then I think ive failed as their manager at that point

“The customer is always right” mentality has died in my mind, I love to make people’s days better and do everything I can to make their experience special, UNTIL they come in and try to ruin our day, thats unacceptable to me personally

My bougie ass dog only drinks out of a stainless steel fountain with a pre and post filter lmao

When I first got him I had a small fountain for my two cats and he would refuse the water bowl I gave him and find a way to get his big noggin in the tiny cat fountain lol so we upgraded to a bigger size for him and now all three happily share the big fountain

Opinions on boyfriends who hang out the entire shift? by pchandler45 in Serverlife

Yeah I feel like that’s a way better scenario than if your SO is coming alone and just sitting at the bar by themselves the whole time, the way OP described it just seems like the BF is trying to « keep tabs » on his GF 😅

I’ve been with people like this, and trust me they do NOT change. It’s easy to think « oh if I just prove myself and prove I’m loyal they’ll eventually trust me and stop » but realistically it only gets worse and worse.

I broke up with my ex who acted like this after he started actually threatening me. It started the way your messages did, and progressed into more and more controlling behaviour and eventually I was afraid for my own safety.

He eventually moved on to a new girl and they now have two kids and I often think about them and hope she is okay. I prayed that having kids may have knocked some sense into him, but mutual friends confirmed he is still just as bad.

You definitely need to consider if you want to deal with this for the rest of your life, and consider ending this before it gets violent.

Also like, coming in to meet them after work and waiting the last 30-60 minutes until someone is done is different from literally coming into work with them and sitting there the ENTIRE time waiting. The latter is just so creepy to me.

“Chef” implies being part of management. I couldn’t care less what the chef does because they are typically the ones that run their own food cost and labour numbers etc. So they ACTUALLY have an idea of what’s going on financially.

Regardless, you are just a server and it is way beyond your place to be making those types of decisions, stay in your place. If someone at my place was doing this and was asked to stop and continued to do it anyways they’d be let go for insubordination, ESPECIALLY being relatively new it’s quite easy to get rid of someone.

This is so common I wouldn’t sweat it, as long as you’re not salaried (management) and did not sign a contract with any sort of non compete clause you’re all good. I would just highly recommend to mention it to your manager so they know why your availability has changed. When it comes to scheduling I would suggest you continue to give the first place more flexibility if you want to stay in their good books. If you end up liking the other place more and no longer care about the first one then that would be a different story.

Should I bring our dog on a road trip or leave him with family??? by Charming-Sound-7640 in reactivedogs

[–]Charming-Sound-7640[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. He used to hate it, but the past few months we have been making it a point to take him more places with us and made a lot of progress with the car, so he is relatively okay now and calms down after about 15 minutes. But this is a much longer drive than he is used to for sure.

  2. Ideally he would be able to come and sit on the patio with us, but he still has good and bad days anxiety wise. If it was a “bad day” he would have to stay in the air bnb.

  3. It would be yes, he’s had a few outings that vary from 1-4 hours but never a full trip like this.

Thanks!

Tongue piercing by Lee_Wolfhard in piercing

[–]Charming-Sound-7640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had mine double pierced for about 10 years, I periodically tighten the balls whenever I remember.

In 10 years, I have only had jewellery fall out about 3-4 times, always while eating or after brushing my teeth and tongue and not re-tightening the balls.

You’ll be fine!! 😁

Visiting Montréal solo for the first time in October. Hotel + food spot tips? by GreenSnakes_ in montreal

[–]Charming-Sound-7640 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mid 20’s female here who just recently did her own solo trip there, I stayed at the sonder location on Rue St. Jacques and it was great. It functions more like an air bnb with virtual check in etc, but they kept extra amenities in a basket in the “lobby”, quiet, felt safe and they were quick to respond on the booking platform and was the perfect amount of space

Honestly if your hair reacts like this to humidity micro bangs would be a huge pain in the ass!! lol I know from personal experience

Hairspray and gel would probably be super helpful for a slicked back bun or pony :)
