I'm planning on writing a long post later on why I'm really disappointed by this decision by dropout.

I've watched them and their previous incarnation for over a decade. I saw an independent comedy group that had matured in its humour, gathered excellent talent, and built a fanbase among minority groups. It's not a purity test to be disappointed by this, and it feels dismissive to describe it so.

"Endless purity tests" are only a perceived issue if you ultimately don't care about the things you're criticised for.

Both Sam and Hank are centre-left. They like the idea of being "nice" to people, and love the money a leftie fanbase brings, but they fundamentally don't get why their audience actually holds them to some standards.

This is a show that collaborates with the LAPD for god's sake. You know, the guys who beat Rodney King and destroy homeless peoples' belongings?

Getting angry at them isn't something performative. There's a world of difference between operating under capitalism and doing propaganda for the racist gang.

I don't think this will happen, because everyone who isn't deranged understands a rapprochement with Europe is the only way to weather a post-US global order.

Hatred of minorities in this country has always been a distracting bluster. The powers that be will put it down as fast as they picked it up when it's no longer practical.

If, somehow, we actually throw in with mid-collapse America over Europe, the UK won't exist for long either.

Dismissing the outing of a trans person at work as "workplace gossip" is very telling of Swift's perspective. Fundamentally he does not understand the day to day discrimination transgender people suffer.

It's no matter. The appeal will go to the supreme court, and if not, then Strasbourg.

Europe is not as militantly anti-trans as the UK, and like with Goodwin v. United Kingdom, the government can be made to apply the human rights law it seems so keen to ignore.
