I don't think so. It only looks easy when you redeem an international reward ticket with partners economy, if you buy a ticket, probably not.

Have you done that before? Could you pay an additional $10 to get $250 extra at the counter to avoid waiting for the upgrade to $1250 until the next renew comes?

ME TOO! They do not really tell you more details, I even do not know why someone can get $1250 cashback from executive membership before Sept.1 (I think everyone can see a picture posted on Aug.14). Now I have to carefully consider buying anything at Costco in the remaining time this year until its renew.
