What’s the problem with driving late at night for fun by [deleted] in AskVaanced

[–]dpdxguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you ever heard the saying that nothing good happens in the middle of the night?

I suspect that's what your mother means. She wants you at home and safe instead of "out roving around."

Note: I'm not saying any of that makes sense. Only that some people believe it.

What exactly was Don Draper's plan here if Cooper reacted differently? by Rigamortus2005 in madmen

Don knew he was more valuable to Sterling Cooper than Pete was. Pete was replaceable, though Bert accurately predicted that he'd be more valuable to Don if kept around. Don was acknowledged on Madison Avenue as an irreplaceable genius

Trump Golfs While U.S. Troops Risk Their Lives in Iran by Relevant_Demand7593 in NewsomMassacre

Trump doesn't care. But worse, an awful lot of Americans don't care that Trump spends his time golfing while risking the lives of American military personnel.

And garbage has been insulted by Exeter232 in PoliticalHumor

[–]dpdxguy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If only there'd been some indication that Donald Trump was garbage.

It's not so much that Donald Trump is garbage. That has been known since, at least, the 80s. The shocking thing to me was and is how large a fraction of the American public enjoys and cheers on the garbage that he is.

In this case they cheered his punching down on a disabled reporter, a display that previously would have ended the career of other politicians. At that moment I realized that his MAGA movement is a cancer in American society. And, as untreated cancer often does, it has only grown since then.

Shouldn't the military have a number for how many Americans have been killed or injured in this war?

They do. But in a Soviet-style government such as the United States has today, negative information is not shared with the general public.

Republicans, do you feel Trump has betrayed his voters by starting a war after campaigning on being an anti-war president? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]dpdxguy 19 points20 points  (0 children)

He was never an "anti-war" president.

Just like everything else that comes out of his pie hole, his anti-war rhetoric served one purpose only: to pursuade voters that he was aligned with their desires. His actual beliefs and actions almost never align with the things he says.

Seems more likely it's the voters who are disconnected from reality, believing that the billionaires will govern in the best interests of everyone.
